Is anything harmed (ie. game, system) by playing it upside down?

This has to be bait otherwise you're fucking retarded

>> No.4820268

Interested in knowing this as well

Sideways, unlevel, or in motion would be bad. I honestly don't know about upside down. Maybe the spindle of the motor would drift "upwards" from its housing over time.

The only reason I can imagine you would do this is if you wanted to mount the playstation on the ceiling of something, like a car. That would probably be a bad idea, because of the movement.

Earlier PS1 models have a laser issue and people found out you can make it still read discs if you play them upside-down. Doesn't always work, but sometimes.

the dignity of both you and the console

>> No.4820302

The instruction manual that comes pre-packaged with the console if you bought it new (if you bought used be cautious) indicates various methods to perform optimal function for the console itself, all dependent on model type, though you are in luck you seem to have the XGM-6001 series, which if you kept up with EGM or had the manual, would that the intended use and positioning of the control deck would be to balance on a record player inside of a moist towel covered in isopropyl alcohol at a 45 degree angle. This increases the processing efficiency of the gpu by a tremendous 8%!! Think of all the graphics Tidus from FF7 could load at once!!

Now you're playing with power!

This is honestly a pretty good parody of /vr/. Catchphrases, sanctimonious collectorfagging, nonsense performance and maintenance claims.

It's the only way to get some models to read discs properly. It's an old classic trick anon, are you 12 years old?

We would also do this when playing Driver 2 because it helped keep the Playstation from overheating.

Other consoles, maybe. PSX no. I played my PSX upside down for years, because the cheap fucker wouldnt read disc otherwise anymore. Sony = cheap trash.

When my original SCPH-1001 got damaged by ITS OBVIOUS design error, my father would sit it on a ledge against the wall in a vertical fashion. That was the only way to get the laser reading the games,

>> No.4820827

It's probably better for it even when it's brand new since 80% of the vents are in the bottom. Many of the PS1s that have difficulty reading discs are a result of setting them on carpet, beds or other soft, insulating surfaces
