How would you rank the four Mystical Ninja games on the SNES, /vr/?

you crazy 2 was fucking dope

too many autoscrollers, too much slowdowns, not enough stuff to do in towns to break up the monotony of all the platforming levels

it did give us Impact though, so it's not all bad

>3 that low
for what purpose

Didn't get far in 3, but it seems good.

3 is low just because language barrier
1 last just because the arcade elements remaining detract from the experience, I still like it though

1>2
Haven't played 3 or 4 because the language shit is hard to get past, esp with 3 obviously

1 is interesting, it's like a transitionary game between the NES games and the later Goemon games.

2 is good, but a bit on the easy, short and boring side. There's nothing really that outstanding about it.

3 is basically 2D MNSG. Lots of exploration in the overhead town sections. Also, first time playing as all 4 characters.

4 is kind of like 2, except replace the Impact sections with random mini-games. I found its level design greater than 2's.

2 is import friendly, just need to visit a shop to buy something for 480 Ryo in the same screen as the roadblock it's needed for. Unlocking the bonus hard level still needs a guide.

3/5 is jp heavy, but still manageable with a guide.
4 (and the ds game but it's not in the same style) has a few very tricky language barriers (a randomized timed quiz for example) but you'll want to play it on an emulator anyways because of all the button mashing (think konami fine tuned it so the common turbo controllers other than theirs don't get it correctly)

2 is one of the best SNES platformers
Haven't played the other two yet.

Stop calling Akogingu 5, none of the same people even worked on it as the team that did the SNES games went on to do MNSG/GGA instead.

You have a point.
I mixed those internal names.

First N64 game was the one supposed to be GG5, while Akokingu was "Goemon ARPG". The second N64 game indeed is similar to 2/4.

Does anyone have any recs for playing through these games? I have all four SFC carts of the games and at one point or another tried playing through each just to get stuck in towns not knowing what the hell to do. Is there a definitive guide or do I just have to watch a walkthrough every time I end up in a town?

I guess ninjas are cool.

>> No.4831982

You should only be getting stuck in 3 and maybe a few parts in 4 (you can bullshit your way through the quests in most of the towns without having to read).
