By efficiently figuring out how to get on top of your opponent, duh.
There are some matchups which suck for Gief, but there are matchups that suck for every character.
He's the archetypal close-range get-in-there-and-throw-people character.

I used to almost always pick Chun until my step brother set up a tournament for his birthday where he picked the rosters. He gave ChunLi to another guy and stuck me with Guile who I never used. The whole thing was set up so he would play Ryu and win against everyone.

So I got together with his friend and taught him how to cheese wins with Chun and then practiced Guile. So my step brother instantly lost to Chun as usual, then got bodied by me with Guile. He threw a fit and stormed out of his own party/tournament. Then the rest of us just played fun random matches for the rest of the day. Good times!

Now if I play SF it's either Sagat or Dan.

In ST I main n.ryu and have a pocket boxer. If you're a faggot that uses claw I'll just pick o.ken though.

I've actually been working on and off my third character which is o.hawk, I can do walk up sakos easy but the safejump loop is still fucked up hard depending on character. I mean obviously on boxer, it's free, but on a shoto it's retarded (you can't even safejump oken because his fierce DP is active frame 0).
