Fuck yeah Vandal Hearts

I just put it on my raspberry pi and I've been loving it so far.

I finally found a JRPG with a combat system I like.

It's like playing a D&D campaign. I just wish there was some open world exploration segments.

If there was (or is) an RPG with this type of combat system and open world/dialogue segments as well it would be the perfect console RPG.

Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Kartia: The Word of Fate, Front Mission 3, Arc the Lad collection... the PSX is full of these games. I'd say Arc the Lad has more RPG-style exploration but the combat isn't as good. There are also some stinkers like Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth.

Personally I love the PSX version of Ogre Battle way more than the SNES version

Not shit. Especially when compared to most modern J-RPG offerings. I just personally found it really boring. I've played the first games in the Cold Steel and the Trails trilogies, and neither really grabbed me. I think it's a case of people just being desperate for decent traditional RPG's and people mistaking having a lot of dialogue for having GOOD dialogue.

I started suikoden.

Nice and comfy rpg .. change of pace from what I'm currently playing on my switch right now .. tropical freeze and hyrule legends .. having a lot of fun with both of those too

Parasite eve is really good but my house isn't quiet enough to really be able to pay attention to it right now.

I'm not him but I was the guy he was replying too. I'm 30 .. my wife is 22 , daughter is 3 , my son is 5 months. I mean your right there is a percentage of people who will have tons of free time at 40 but for your average family man .. and I know this is going to trigger a lot of this board there is a large number of us that post here who have a wife and kids and we are definitely not going to have any sort of unlimited play time at 40 I'll have way more time than I do with 2 small children but it's not like I'll be able to spend all of my free time doing it and I still won't have that much free time. I work in the automotive manufacturing industry in skilled trades and the money is great but I work a lot of weekends and long hours. All of that being said I wouldn't change my life at all a wife and kids can be a pain in the ass but I love my family dearly and I would feel empty if I didn't come home to them every day.

I do. I don't think Omega Boost has ever been at crazy prices but I think I get genuinely weirded out at my stuff slowly turning into collectors items worth hundreds of dollars. Then after that a bit bitter I didn't get some games I really liked when they were still retail prices. Being able to rent games might have spoiled me.
