>that guy who doesn't like new games because they're "too easy" but only plays casual stuff like platformers and JRPGs your kid sister likes

Are retro-exclusive gamers really just brainlets and/or gritlets?

>> No.4795029

Name a more hardcore genre than JRPGs

You can't.

Except there are plenty of arcade players here.
RPGs are modern games legal for the board, essentially.

Grand strategy?

There is nothing more casual than an arcade game.

You are right, in some definitions of the word casual. The games are pick up and play.
The thing is, they also are very hard to master and with a high skill ceiling, arguably the highest and hardest of any single player games ever without taking into consideration self-imposed challenges.
If you think they're easy because you can credit feed a lot of them, there's also plenty of games with checkpoints that send you back that are also VERY hard even if continuing, and arguably harder to recover from those checkpoints (see: Truxton 2, R-Type)

it was a joke

I've never met a retro-exclusive gamer before.

And arcade games are the predecessors to today's Candy Crush clones.

>> No.4795074

The worst are people who only play Triple A schlock and then complain about "modern games" as if glorified micro-transaction dispensers are even games.

shmupfags should get their own containment board or preferably commit ritual mass suicide

but this is the containment board

Weak bait, try again
>>4795067
I've been one for a while now, I just don't find newer releases interesting.

That sounds like a cool idea actually as a fan of them, but it would fill with the crappy guys from /vg/
