I found a pretty nice re-creation of one of the more peaceful BGM tracks from the show... granted it's just the Zelda theme played slow, but it still sounds nice.

I wish there were more efforts to re-create the music from the old Mario and Zelda cartoons, they had some pretty fun arrangements of the game music.

The stuff with lyrics was trash though.

I think the people that dislike it are seeing it through the lens of current Zelda. When this came out we only had two games. For what it was, it was actually rather good.

People who *hate* it are Zelda autists. A cursory browsing of Zelda Universe forums and the like reveals that this franchise summons people autistically obsessed with the """lore""" of the games and who take them way too seriously. Combine the cartoon's goofiness with its lack of any coherent season arc and people will definitely hate it because it's not what they *want* Zelda to be. They should just realize this was some saturday morning proto cartoon made for shits and giggles in the late eighties and enjoy things for what they are.

I think they tried to make him look more threatening, but really they just wrecked the design. That stupid cone shaped head with the crooked spikes on his helmet, those fat lumpy lips ( that show really had a boner for fat lumpy lips ) and then they made his eyes less creepy by giving him pupils.

Original cartoon Ganon was best.

Strangest thing to me is that the spiked helmet just became a -thing- for Ganon starting with the Oracle games... but only the cartoon did it prior. He had a skullcap prior, but the spikes didn't exist until it. Either someone felt it needed something, or someone on the Capcom staff liked the cartoon.

Or it's all just strange coincidence.
