I hate how he can stunlock Riker in Street Fighter 2 vs. Star Trek: TNG

He's probably one of the more iconic, if only because of his wacky appearance and electric attack.

It was 1991, then I mained Guile for a while until I realized shotokan is the ultimate street fighting art and haven't looked back since - although I'll still fall back to Blanka if someone gets hip to my Ken. Guile is too similar but someone like Blanka or Chun Li or Honda fucks 'em up.

I mean, if /vr/ contrarians wanna take a round Jacking Off to Blanka, who can stop you. But he sucks, he screeches, he is inconsistent with the rest of the cast in SF2 (but not nowadays) and he is CHEAP.

I think Alex is probably more underrated since he is in fact a main character but he moved around and slept on.

I'd say only bother with that if you find that you like the series and want a collector's item to play on your hardware on your CRT or whatever.

As for where to start, tough call; going with the newest has plenty of benefits (not the least of which being a bunch of other beginner players), but SFV is just not that good. Playing against the CPU does indeed develop bad habits and the whole point of fighting games is going up against other players, but honestly I think the way to really see if the series is for you without being stomped by veterans on FightCade is to just emulate SFII: The World Warrior (arcade version) and mess around, learn the game, and then decide if you want to pursue it, then start playing against humans once you have more of a feel for the genre. If you have a friend interested in learning with you, then grind your skill up with him.

>SFII: The World Warrior (arcade version)
So MAME is recommended over any of the console ports or the HD remake? I want to get good at fighting games. The last time I tried it was with a friend and as soon as I got better than him he got bored so the goal is to be able play on fightcade without embarrassing myself as soon as possible. I know some of the console ports have training modes thats why I'm asking about them.

Not The World Warrior. Either Champion Edition or Super Turbo, these are the ones with a bigger community on Fightcade. I prefer Hyper Fighting but it's much less played there for some reason.

Don't tell anyone who plays SFV that it'll destroy their minds.

I do agree tho, idk why they made him so bad. He's an interesting character moveset wise but insisted he was shit and unbalanced.

>> No.4781549

>>4779408
Get Fightcade, it has pretty much every version of Street Fighter AND you can play people online. Starting with SF2 is recommended but I'd personally recommend Zero/Alpha 2 then mess around with SF2 and SF3 to see which one you like more. SF2 has a TON of bullshit that puts players off while Alpha 2 is a bit more balanced if you find people who don't abuse custom combos. 3S has a shit ton of try hards who parry all day and pretty much make you feel like you can't press a single button without it fucking you over

You mean a decade ago?

Yeah he's top tier now that players applied option selects to old games. O.T.Hawk can lock an opponent down with an option select where he'll upper if they upper (except his will win) or he'll grab them if they block. T.Hawk will always choose the correct move for the player.
