I fell in love with it since 1991. I had a choice between the Genesis and the SNES, I picked the Genesis because I wanted something different, since I already tried a NES. The first game I ever played and beat on the Genesis was Sonic 1. Ever since then I became obsessed with Sonic The Hedgehog, to the point of buying his comics & watching his cartoon shows. Made me wish there were action figures of him. I used to be this obsessed with Mario, but Sonic won me over.

My favorite 16-bit console of that generation. I still like the SNES, TG16 and Neo-Geo (Only ever played the arcade games back in the day) .

The Genesis/ Mega Drive is like a low cost 16-bit arcade board with a M68000 CPU. In some ways it is technically better than the SNES and other ways it is not. But the Genesis was always my go-to system for arcade ports back then. Plus there is a large library of original software as well.

Love it. I was an SNES owner as a kid, so I only rarely played it in the 90s, only games I played were Sonic, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Golden Axe, thought they were great. Picked up a Genesis nearly 10 years ago now and have been basically discovering a whole extra library of great 16 bit games.

This is the best thing the Genesis has going for it. There's a massive library of all kinds of different games. I had a Genesis as a kid and I still find out about some great 8/10 game that I had no idea even existed.

I bought it for a friend and tested it out with a few games and the ones I tested worked fine. Some of the games are Japanese ROMs but in the case of stuff like Contra: Hard Corps that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I've watched it many times on VHS, hooked up via RF. It was always abundantly clear that Dolly had braces.

The blur isn't a side effect of composite per se. It's the Mega Drive's appalling implementation of composite which is to blame. This is why I never, ever use it despite being quite happy with composite output from other consoles.

Except it's consistently rated as one of the best systems ever, except in Japan where it was more of a niche console, mainly due to PC Engine coming out earlier, and SFC dominating that era there, but everywhere else in the world, MD was toe to toe with SNES and regarded as one of the best systems ever.
If it was unerrated by majority of people, there wouldn't be so many of these Genesis compilations in every new console that comes out.
