Remember Apollo Smile? She was Ulala's voice, had her own amerimanga comic and was a "live action anime girl" back in the 90's. Yep, that was a thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRR027lJ1-s

She is now 51 years old.

There's a time and place for anime. And that time is over for her.

I wonder what happened to other people from the american 80's and 90's "japanimation" scene.
As I'm not american, Apollo Smile is the only one I know, but I'm sure there were others.

But this would be more /a/ than /vr/.

Nope. Never heard of her. I rarely pay attention to who does the voice for a character unless it's particularly iconic, in either a good or bad way. Ulala wasn't either. And I never saw that scifi channel shit, at least not longer than it took to pick up the remote.

I do find it interesting to figure out what became of nerds who were in their 20s/30s back in the 90s and if they maintained their interest into middle age.

Speaking of aging fans, does anyone remember that woman who was an import gaming fan back in the 90s and is now a MLP FiM fan? I remember a few years ago someone on here in an "old internet" thread linking to a video she made. I think she was describing a diarrhea attack or something?

Not only did you samefag, you did it under the pretense of being an "oh so cool detahced" oldfag while poswting some cancerous offsite image macro in response to what is an effectively benign statement. Passive aggressive creatures like you should IMMEDIATELY be forced to dox yourselves so a dedicated league of some sort can drop a care package of starved dogs straight into your room to sodomize you while your lacrimose ass begs for forgiveness for being such a colossal GIGA faggot. Your anus will be so ruptured and have a pressure so high before said rupturing that it will create a localized black hole and such an astounding cosmic event will it be that it will cause mass panic and astoronomers and religious leaders will take it as an omnious portent of an incoming extinction event. The hidden order of the Rosicrucians and Masons alike will take such a cataclysmic undertaking and use it as the basis for their further Apocryphal tales, citing the existence of one faggot so great that his very faggotry caused the earth to quake. I seldom see such unironically authetnic "reddit" posts such as yours; so profoundly disturbing and revolting is it that I myself question if this isn't some elaborate ruse playing a part in some multifaceted scheme of unholy autism whose consequences are manifold, if not utterly innumerable. If so, kudos to you. However, chance would dictate that you're just some turbofaggot that should IMMEDIATELY kil lthemselves in as painful a matter as possible so as to achieve penance with as many deities as possible as I am not aware of a sect, religion or even a cult that would be able to forgive such a massive display of such cavalier faggotry as has yet to be seen on /vr/.

Every now and then I feel compelled to look up if any more info on that ever came out, for whatever morbid reason. Its ghoulish, I know, but someone dying so early is concerning. It feels like its one of those cases where only those close to him will ever know.

A similar thing happened with C Martin Croker's untimely death; an animator for William Street(the Adult Swim/Toonami guys) who is most notable for doing the voice of Zorak and Moltar on Space Ghost:Coast to coast and all its spinoffs. his cause of death was never publicly disclosed, but his on/off wife made a post on reddit basically detailing all the events of the night of his death. Its a strange thing to hear about someone dying so in depth, especially when its someone who's known for something more niche and not a huge celebrity.

I read his wife's account and I have to agree with the reddit consensus it seems like an underappreciated heart attack combined unfortunately with the wife leaving him unattended at the worst possible time - or possibly a classic femme fatale poisoning. It's a real shame when people don't go to the hospital when they're deathly ill because they don't want to inconvenience anyone. It's how Jim Henson went and I bet many Anons as well.

I'm not like that at all. It's happening with Japanese music, too.
I don't really mind, but I wish people who get into stuff like Mariya Takeuchi, Taeko Ohnuki or Tatsuro Yamashita would venture into other regions within the japanese music scene.
Anyway, everything Japan seem to have their public in western countries. I think Europe consumes more japanese media historically even, like their own anime boom was in the late 70s, and exploded more in the 80s, whereas in Spain or Latin America it was the 90s, and while in USA anime was present in the early "fandom", so to speak, and anime had a lot of fans from different places, like avid comic readers, or animation fans, video game gans, but it didn't really explode in popularity until the 00s.
I digress, anyway, I see it happening, I kind of understand why some people get irritated by the fact some people use older media as a sort of accessory, rather than passionately loving it like they do, but honestly who gives a fuck, if they don't bother me, I don't care.
The only bad thing is the reaction backlash there might be, but also who cares, anything japan is "weeb", there.
