are there any old PS1/N64/gensis/PC games that made for cool walking sims? i like walking around in namco museum and i'm wondering if any other games have this vibe, of kind of just walking around the location

I thought you were 8-bit Brody at first. Way to disappoint me.

I remember a few demo CDs where instead of a menu you'd walk around some sort of temple or island or something in first person, and had to explore a bit to find and launch all the game demos. Some of those were pretty cool.

Echo Night, if you like the idea of walking around an empty cruise ship and helping ghosts by solving puzzles. Also you teleport to important points in the ghost's lives. The walk speed is kind of slow, though.

Also Echo Night: Beyond for PS2 is really fun, too. It takes place on an abandoned moon colony.

There is a bizarre game called Hellnight. You mostly wander through corridors where a single monster is lurking around and will chase you if it sees you. There are doors that lead to rooms where you can talk to people and interact with stuff by pointing-and-clicking. Unfortunately, there are a lot of useless rooms and the in-game map doesn't record what's in the important rooms, so if you play, I recommend making your own map.

Why were graphics so comfy in the 90s?

>> No.4762235

Because you were younger, and they captured your young imagination with the way they had to work around their limitations to convey the images that were intended to be seen.

I can't remember any and most of these things had pretty generic names IIRC, but next time I'm digging in my garage I'll see if I can find any discs. Hopefully the thread sticks around. Low odds though.
