This game definitely has an interesting playstyle to it.

Is the second game really that much worse than the first game? The second game looks so much more aesthetically pleasing to me. What are the problems with it compared to the first?

>> No.4752384

>>4752383
They're two completely different styles of games, which I think disappoints fans of the first.

The worst one. Pigma "daddy screamed reeeeeeeal good before he died" Dengar.

I remember hearing about how Tombal No. 2 had art and designs by Akira Toriyama. Being young and stupid, I picked up a disc only copy of Tomba 2. It could have been my fault, or the Funcoland employee's fault. Either way, I was disappointed, and to this day think that Toma would go great with Toriyama.

Fuck these memes.

Tomba 1 and 2 were good in the sense that they were not plain platformers or what they call "metroidvanias" these days. They had objectives. I liked that shit and I cannot think of any other platformers that do this.

>>4752384
Untrue. While Tomba 1 is the better game, Tomba 2 still has most of the mechanics of the 1st one. The differences lie in the lives system (Tomba 1 has a limited lives system which can screw you over, Tomba 2 has no lives, just a checkpoint based system that makes the game easier), the abilities and the pacing. The style of both games is the same: Get a high score by completing objectives, use said score to unlock shit and find upgrades/secrets scattered around.

Try Goemon's Great Adventure.
You have to go back to levels to find certain specific things, or find hidden paths, or find someone or something at a different time (it has a night/day cycle).

Different directors - First one was directed by the guy that did all the ghosts n goblins/ghouls n ghosts games. Basically a legend from capcom.

A fave of mine. I tried Tomba 1 first as a babby and it was 3 hard 5 me, played 2 and was able to "beat" it (not 100%), and revisited 1 after being able to 100% 2 and found myself stuck at a certain point in one of (if not the) first forest(s). I'll need to git gud and try again.

yeah its the one part where chibis point sounds like something any "youtuber" might say and would actually be a fair somewhat interesting observation and caveman acting like it was a stupid thing to say was wrong...however given the circumstances of whats happening and everything else chibi says I totally get why caveman is just annoyed at any shit chibi is saying by that point.

Once you get the hang of it is quite easy and you can also complete it. If you could do 2, you can do 1.

i wish I played this when it first came out. I remember seeing it on the shelves when it was new.

but this and the sequel...I could NOT get into them. the controls are slightly awkward for me. the graphics are badly dated. the game has charm with tons of personality so i'll give it that. I put about 5 hours or so into the 1st and about 2-3 into the second. I don't see myself trying them again.

no hate for those who love this game. most of us have that weird game that most other people love but doesn't click with us.

they're pretty standard 5th gen graphics. if 5th gen is too "dated" for you, then what the fuck are you doing on this board?
