The translation is entirely subjective. I like it a lot more but others swear by the original. Other than that point of contention, the PSP remake adds 2 mostly useless classes and 2 fun new characters, one of whom is very overpowered.

This is the cheater's bitch out meta-knowledge move.

What you're supposed to do is move without taking an action to get a higher CT value then him when he gets baited into moving and attacking on the same turn, then when your turn comes you can Act, then Move and Act, before he gets a turn.

There are people who spend the entire game acting every single time they move because of their precious JPs, and they never ever figure out how the game actually works even after they beat it.

Monk is meh, even with duel because your losing out on your head slot and some speed growths. Ninja with unarmed work much better, the only thing you really lose out on is rez and chakra.

Without resorting to squire you can get holy absorb gear and beat through him. Use a chemist or mediator with tele to outrange him and act as a healer for phase 2. 1 round him with ninja and a decently leveled ramza. Teleporting calc. Ninja spear build jump him. Break power him into worthlessness. Tele quickcast summoner. And a few other jank builds.

Its all about getting off the initial bridge your on and staying out of h sword reach. The real benefit of the yell/accum build is that you also destroy phase 2 which is nasty

The random damage could sometimes be far higher than any other weapon you could get at the time. That can easily mean the difference between a kill shot or not, which is tactically relevant.

If a chocobo is going to run away heal up next turn regardless, you might not care about any damage that doesn't result in a kill. A sword might have 0% chance of getting a kill shot, while the Axe might at least have a 25% chance.

There's an entire set of bby mode tools for romhacking FFT and the heuristic AI adapts to any changes made to the ability libraries if you use the proper flags. The most complicated thing you need to do is some basic assembly hacking that uses instructions already in the game.

All the work has been done and people already know to make their own 3D maps and sprites and ability effects and reprogram the damage formulas.

So you could make a brand new FFT in the same engine and it wouldn't really be that difficult, only half as time consuming as making a game usually is.

Though I think Matsuno as a creative eye, especially the diorama focus on level design and how he present encounters. it's why none of the Advanced follow ups have memorable encounters or meaningful levels. A fan game would probably feel flat in those aspects as well as presenting new math and formulas.

I personally think someone should reprogram Blade Grasp to universally use Algus' Shrug animation.

Holy fucking shit brainlet. Let's put aside that I doubt you've even read much Tolstoy, let alone enough to tell us about his "masterful prose" during long slogging Napoleonic War recaps. What Tolstoy gives you is a fucking panorama of humanity, its foibles, the Russian spirit always in decay, the Birth of new Beauty and Love.. but it isn't his prose you're getting that though.

- Cause you're not a fucking Ruski and you're reading a sloggy translation, just like FFT. If the PSX translation is more faithful to original intent I don't think its unfair to prefer it to something like a later reprint that changes Russian name suffix's from -sky to -ski. Obviously WotL is more drastic a change than that, but translations are all a slippery slope. Malicious intent is softened by tone in the new prose and it effects the more "brutal" characters of FFT. WotL has postgame content though and that's a plus as a game, and more classes.

just play a FFT hack and try new classes combos. Experiment and enjoy the game, really.

>I'm not talking about style, I'm talking about brainlets whining that it's huffing its own farts
Dumbass, if you're responding to people complaining that WotL ia huffing its own farts, you are talking about style.

Yes, there are a lot of mistakes in the original translation. They're embarrassing but also easily noted. Every single one you list, I recognized as a mistranslation and was not confused. Meanwhile, the language in the retranslation intrudes and changes the tone and feel of every single line of dialog in the entire script.

So no, retard, nobody seriously thinks those translations are "acceptable," a binary term of binary thinker like yourself. They will, however, tolerate those mistakes to have the rest of the functional dialog be simple and free of pretentious elaboration.

Do you think there's only one type of fart-huffing retard? Particularistic matters like "this is Shakespearean" or "this is Old English" don't matter. You're simply too much of a child to understand how much the retranslation fixed things.

I can't believe someone is seriously touting a script translated by barely literate japs as "better" because half the time it's more "accurate" and the other half the time it's incoherent garbage due to their high school tier level of English (being generous). All because you're a brainlet who can't follow actual eloquent English. For shame.

honestly the ways in which it bends english grammar are beautiful at times

Yeah, having your internal staff try to translate a game into English without being fluent in the language is a detour into that particular category.
Most of Square's games from that era go this way, because they cheaped out. I'm glad they're spending more money on translation and not so glad that their design/mechanics are shit now. There's no point translating a bad game.

You should probably try to read off the main script. Duran reports, and Bar Quest flavour text is a mess that WotL does fix. But I dunno why this niggas so upset about Fire Bracelet and untranslated Monster Skills. That's.. real autism.

Easiest way for me when Wiegraf sodomized me was to take the dragoon job. Never invested in it but the game was easy enough to read that all you needed was the basic jump command. Walk towards wiegraf, turn your defenseless back to him and use jump on the dpot behind Ramza's back. Wiegraf will always target Ramza's back and he will miss since you jumped and then landed on him for big damage. Rinse and repeat for a victory with zero damage taken.

There's a slowdown every time someone attacks.
The game runs at 60 fps, but it drops to 30 fps whenever there's some animation, and the game often stutters during those framerate changes. Even opening the menu makes the game drop to 30 fps.

You know you did a shitty job when your port runs worse than the original game emulated on the PSP.

Still the wrong question to ask. The question is how much predictable damage vs how much unpredictable damage do you want on your team. You can take 5 characters into most battles, don't have to give them all the same weapon.

>Particularistic
Finding a pointless stylistic affect to be distracting is not particularism and is in fact a common sentiment.
>You're simply too much of a child to understand how much the retranslation fixed things.
I personally like the WotL translation and actually enjoyed its elaborate style. But I can understand why people don't like it and it has nothing to do at all with whether it's comprehensible or not.
>can't follow actual eloquent English
You can't make any point beyond straw manning "defenders" of the original translation and sperging out about specific mistakes that nobody denies.
