Gameboy Camera Thread

Share your memories, maybe pictures if you can? I'm still trying to figure out a good method of getting the pics off of it. I'm thinking of getting a capture card, plugging it into my Game Boy Player, and going that route. Perhaps there is a better method but I've yet to figure it out.

I went through mine just a second ago and there were a bunch of pics that my EX gf took of us, her dog, which died and some other stuff. We were maybe 16. I'm actually kind of mad because she probably deleted the pics from when I was a kid in order to store them. Either that, or they were victims of random memory loss.

And in case you're wondering the pic here isn't her.

Another cool thing of not is that the file select music from Earthbound is used as the theme for t he credits in the Gameboy Camera.

I'll check mine in about 20 minutes, haven't looked on it in probably ~15 years. If I find any pics of my more-full-of-wonder-and-carefree 11 year-old-self or whatever else I find, which will probably make me a little sad, I'll figure out a method and post some. FTW.

I had so much fun with this when I was 14. I got mine at a gamestop for 5 dollars and messed with it for hours and hours and hours. I'd never had so much fun with a camera. I'd still be discovering new menus in this thing months after I'd already thought I'd seen it all.

It's mindblowing how fun it is. Data got lost but I do have some pics saved to my computer from it.

I never owned one as a kid, but there's a fuckton of em' at my local store. I think I'm going to have to bring a gameboy with me next time I go.

Took this around 2002ish

It's the only picture I ever bothered to save for some reason and it was a very assbackwards method.

Now if only you could emulate the Game Boy Camera, because mine just doesn't work any more.

How did you transfer a gameboy Camera picture to your computer? Did you use the printer and then just scan it?

What I did was,

>attach it to super Gameboy
>Access Pic on Super Gameboy.
>use Digital Camera to take photo of TV
>Open the photo in paint
>crop Image

Here's another using this method

I don't think it's a terrible method considering the image quality of the photos themselves isn't very great.

Not him, but you can buy a cable that plugs into your computers printer port that lets you transfer photos.

It was made by madcatz.

With a Gameboy Player though, you can set it to black and white by pressing Left + B at the very first gameboy screen.

One time at school a kid had a gameboy camera. I was a bit of an exhibitionist when I was 8 so I flashed my dick long enough for them to snap a pic. I wonder to this day whether they have deleted the photo or not.

I would take photos of naked ladies off the computer screen for later "enjoying" on the gameboy. This was long before my family got a printer. Portable and quick.

Looked through my Camera for lulz and saw pics of my ex as well.
My heart broke all over again.

Thanks a lot, OP.

Anyway, to extract images, get a Mega Memorycard and a flashcart.
Insert the camera into the MMC, save the data to the MMC.
Then, plug in the flashcart, upload the sava data to the cart and retrieve the .SAV from your computer.
Open the .SAV with GBCameraDump.

Love my gameboy camera. Made a nerdcore tune a few years ago with the music app, that shit was great fun.

>> No.474441

My first one got wet and I had to replace it, about a year later.
I took the camera eye out of it and still have it in a drawer.
But I lost all of my original pics.

Fun fact: Robotists of the time loved those camera eyes, they were cheap and you could interface with them easily, or so I've heard. It's not even hardwired to the board, just a plastic connector.

But yeah, that shit was the smartphone of it's day.
