There are a lot of nudie games that got made for arcades; no shortage of puzzle games, mahjong games, etc.

But why were there no lewd-em-ups? Beat-em-ups, shmups etc designed in the same manner of made around erotic themes? Sure they exist now, but back in the day they were making porn games for arcades, so why not actually make good games for the genre?

Unless someone can post an interview or something with porn arcade game developers we can only speculate really. I would suppose that once you include porno content you are selling to a limited market. So just grab that old mahjong game code and shove the machines out the door for a quick buck.

Where did you even go to play these things? Only really available in the odd corners of pachinko parlors? Did some arcades have a lewd section/floor or maybe even a dedicated lewdcade?

I was in Japan around '06-'07, they had those weird ecchi FMV games in normal arcades, next to your usual Tekken, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear etc. I believe there was nothing explicit, just pantsu/bikini/lingerie etc.
