Are there any good Sega Saturn emulators. Or are all the emulators still junk?

SSF can run reasonably on a 2.6GHz Core 2 processor or higher, and can have great compatibility with the Max preset at a Core i3 3.1GHz or higher. Mednafen does Saturn emulation better, but requires at least a 3.4GHz Intel CPU with Sandy Bridge architecture or higher and also lacks Sega Titan Video emulation if you care about that.

nah I think this is just you trying to justify your purchase. i've had a saturn since the 90s and I only play on SSF because it works great and is easy to use

SSF works with majority of titles and does it well.
make sure to check the compatibility list.

Saturn emulation unfucked itself when Mednafen added Saturn support.
Whatever doesn't work on that should work on SSF.

Now the real question is: what Saturn games are even worth playing? It has to be one of the worst consoles ever.

its impossible to get native resolution out of it like a real console.

Good question. I tried to Run a sega saturn emulator on my Ps Vita and it made badly rendered music. But I couldn't run it very well.

It's a shame, as I have an OLED vita and I wanted to play a translated VN on my system.

I'm using Mednafen and getting notable input lag when playing shooting games, and i've already disabled vsync, enabled hardgpu sync, and set the "ss midsync" option. Is there anything else I can do?

For reference, when playing shooting games in MAME (regular, not ShmupMAME or anything else), I don't notice lag even though some is apparently there. I read someone claiming that running Mednafen with RetroArch removes more lag, is that true?

I haven't found any that work on my PC, but it's a 2004 Dell shitbox, but you'd think it could at least run fucking games from the 90's with no problems...but then some PSX games also run like shit as well, but it's probably less about the games and more about the actual emulator, since Mame will always be shit, yet I can run PC games that look way better than say, Soulcalibur, but it won't even run at all for me on Mame.

False. Saturn emulators are truly shit. I don't regret purchasing my white Japanese Sega Saturn. Not only does it play great, but it looks great too. Plus it's easier to play House Of The Dead & Virtua Cop on a real Saturn since I get to use my light gun on a CRT TV.

This is somewhat tangential, but still related: can anyone point me to a good disc-mounting software? On my old Win7 laptop years back, DT Lite was the best choice with SSF, but some time ago DT Lite became adware/scamware.

I have Windows 10 (cue the laughter at me), and every ISO I download from places like emuparadise or freerom etc. always say "Image File Corrupted!" when I try to mount with Virtual Clone Drive or WinCDemu.

It sucks because the ISOs of my Saturn games worked on Win7 with DT Lite, and those same files won't work on my new computer.

Go anal hump a dildo flat foot. Those games are awesome and saying panzer dragoon saga or radiant silver gun are garbage strange. They are very well made games, but you probably need to like shmups to enjoy them.

Disc based systems much older than the Saturn are still working today. Ones that got far more use. And you can't imagine Saturns will last that long? With such a failure of logic I imagine you can imagine quite a bit if crazy shit your generation is infamous for though.

the island etc. (Nanatsu Kaze no Shima Monogatari) is still one of the best looking 2D games to this day, if not the best.
also guardian heroes looks pretty good iirc. and Dragon force might not be the best looking but it has an impressive number of sprites on screen (up to 200)

I had my American Sega Saturn for 20 years, it has never broke down on me. However I did have to change the battery in the back. Luckily it's easily removable. Plus Saturns could be repaired, I could even replace the Power Supply Unit if I wanted to.

Kinda tempted to get a saturn, and I see they're easy to make region free too.
Really enjoyed my megadrive and dreamcast back in the day but never played on a saturn.
Didn't even know it existed back in the day, no kids I knew had one. I figured Sega just decided to sit N64 PS1 days out for some reason.

Darius Gaiden, Sexy Parodius, Cotton 2 and Boomerang, Silhouette Mirage, Keio Flying Squadron 2 come to mind.

Silhouette Mirage looks pretty much like Sonic Mania does today.
