He fell for the patreon meme instead of pursuing his dreams and other kinds of revenue in 2016 as he was originally planning to. This put a great burden to his physical and mental health which was reflected in the majority of the videos from the new era (abysmal editing, no background music, his established character basically fading away, constant abuse of that r-zone shit, less and less words spent about reviewing the game, ads out the fucking ass). When your life is indistinguishable from work you're going to be crushed by the 24/7 pressure and this leads to now.

It's clear he had family issues because of this, if I had to guess his wife wasn't really convinced keeping on with CGR was a safe source of income. Haven't been following him since he stopped posting stuff on his channel.

Dave came back a few years ago and did some reviews as Retro Game Rewind. They were okay, better than current CGR, but he stopped to do a weird wrestling thing. Dave does run a growing retro game convention yearly in Jersey if you're into that.
