Super Castles on the SNES. I perfectly understand why there were so many PC ports on the SNES, given the SNES Mouse. Interplay deciding to bring Castles 2 to the SNES, I can understand. What I can't understand is why release it in Japan and nowhere else? Were the japanese huge fans of Castles and Castles 2 or something? Why the hell didn't they release it in english when the original game was programmed in english? I don't understand one bit.

The Lone Ranger on the NES raises so many questions. Why did Konami make a game for the NES, and then never release it outside of the US? Why did Konami think american kids would be interested in an old black and white TV series most of them had never heard of at the time? Why did they create a unique FPS light-gun gameplay style for the game, and never use it again on another game?

I will never understand the appeal of these fucking Shogi, Mahjong, and Sudoku games. They are literally shovelware, and I can’t imagine they sell well at all. Who buys a game console but then wants to play these snoozefests. A good percentage of the “never released outside Japan” games in any retro console library are just these shitty things. The first few series (basically until Lost Galaxy) actually aired on TV in Japan, in the timeslot immediately after Sentai. That lasted until Kamen Rider got brought back in 2000, at which point it just took its place, though it does still get a home video release. It basically allows Toei to resell the same toys that they had sold two years prior, with very minimal actual effort put into it on their part. The actors/actresses who voiced the original versions of the characters often come back to voice the ranger versions of their character, too.

they made an niv version but it is legitimately a rare "game" now. I'd assume it cost way more since niv has to be licenced to sell it. the niv version is quite expensive.

I could absolutely see a use for these if you were a businessman in a pre-cell phone era. Bringing a Gameboy along on a plane or train ride with a few cartridges and some batteries would be a lot more convenient than a calculator, a dictionary, and a travel guide - and you could play Super Mario Land when you were done.

>Does anyone actually like Zeo Rangers
They have some of my favorite mecha and monster designs. I really like the Machine Empire too, but I'm also an /m/fag so of course I do. Series itself is aight; Ohranger is a bit better, but that's a given.

I don't understand why that prick doesn't just adopt a tripcode.

Anon gimmickposting is probably the worst kind of posting there is. At least with a tripcode everyone knows you're an obnoxious attention-seeking cunt.

I don't believe you. There's no way you've had enough games to keep this up for as long as you have been without buying at least one to keep it going.

The Atari Lynx had a color backlit screen too in 1989.

Nintendo was always about treading water in other things besides games on their platforms. Look at the knitting machine.

I was surprised but pleasantly happy that Evangelion was combined with strip mahjong games. Got them direct from Gainax.

I did say I recently got Bomberman64. However, a large portion of the games I own was from a time when they were all being clearanced out. I just happen to keep the games, as I felt I can get more fun from them than the money I'd get trading them in even if I can trade them in. One of the reasons I post on /vr/ is as if I can talk about my old games as they were new, because that's what I got since I could never afford the new games.
