hi guys just wondering if anyone knows how rare the Nintendo Entertainment System (Model NES-101) is?

It's not rare by definition as it shows up in and is regularly stocked in game stores everywhere. Dishonest sellers twist the truth that when compared to the original NES, the top-loaders are "rare".

I have several and I'm having trouble getting rid of them.

darn i just remembered i had 1 at my parents but idk if its still there after 12 or so years. but thanks needed to know. and probs stupid question but are you able to use AV famcom games on it? They look similar but the cartridges don't and i guess they would be programmed differently

The only rare toploaders are the ones with composite out.

Famicom and NES hardware is nearly identical, but the cartridges use a different number of pins. You can play Famicom games on an NES-101 with an adapter, as shown in pic related.

thanks ill check it out and see cause i dont remember using a RF cable may be in luck aha
>>4707148
sweet think i may play some on it if its not rare. and damn i'd go crazy playing on that screen.

also i remember seeing super nintendo on the casing of it thats why i kept calling it that and no one knew wtf i was on about lol

It was a temporary set-up, but it's not as unplayable as you'd think. You can get NES (72-pin) to Famicom (60-pin) adapters on AliExpress, or anywhere now really, for peanuts, if you want to get into Famicom stuff.

I've seen smaller, believe it or not. It's not as bad as it seems, but personally I am all about huge CRTs. I have a great 32" TV from the early 2000s, plays really well.

Also I'm pleased to welcome you here to /vr/, we get some shitposts here and there, but don't pay it any mind and I think you'll be fine. Hope you enjoy it here.

not rare at all honestly. rarer than nes frontloader but no one ever threw a top loader away due to bad 72 pin connector like they did with frontloader. I bet the ratio of produced vs still around is much better for toploader.

p.s. go back to /v/ friend.

Not rare since anyone with a clue realized

1. they have inferior video output
2. the whole "blinking screen" issue of the nes-001 is easily fixed

They are no longer in her demand. I'd say the controller is more sought after.

I'm trying my dude, I'd rather not lose money on them; just trying to get rid of my remaining NES stuff.

How many do you have and what do you want out of them?

I have two, loose. One is quite nice, good shape; the other is yellow to the max. Both work. I honestly don't even know what they're worth anymore, I think I paid like ~$60 for the yellow one and ~$90 for the nice one; it wasn't recently.

>>4707392
Getting an AV Famicom and a cartridge converter basically gives you the best option that doesn't involve modding. You'll never have to deal with the blinking light of the NES-001 ever again, and it has native AV out, without the hardwired controllers of the other famicom models, but while still having support for Famicom cart expansion chips and the FDS if you ever get interested in either.

Can you guys recommend a good cheap Famiclone? One that works with cartridges, has good compatibility, and can be bought from China. If I understand it correctly, they should work the same way as the real system.

Most Famiclones on AliExpress have good composite video, and play most games without issue. That said, the more recent NOACs won't run the EverDrive, so if that's important to you, don't buy one. You can get a real Famicom for about the same price as an Famiclone.

The NES-101 is is very rare. It's the second Nintendo DS built. The last one sold in the internet for >9000 dollars

>> No.4709296

>>4708791
Thanks. I live in Europe, and it seems finding a Famicom here would cost much more than a clone system. Also, the controllers on the fami are not detachable, which is bullshit. It's a shame that some clones can't run the Everdrive, I'll try to look into them, but information is scarce.

>>4709296
If you can get a vintage clone with discrete PPU/CPU (Dendy, Pegasus, etc), and not a glop-top, it's almost guaranteed to work with the ED. That said, a dude designed a new, bargain yuro-flashcart that is built to run on Famiclones. http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15757.. Worth checking out.
