There is literally nothing cryptic about this game, assuming you're not a brainlet.
Please tell me which part of this game is cryptic.

Fuck off. This game is impossible without a guide.

>How to get to Level 7
Hinted at both in-game, AND in the manual, which the game itself literally tells you to read in the opening crawl

>>4705674
>you just have to burn every bush and bomb every wall
False. You have to burn exactly ONE bush, and bomb exactly ONE wall in the overworld, and they're both hinted at in-game, AND in the manual. Everything else is optional.

the real mystery is why you keep flooding the thread with pointless zelda threads. isn't there enough soytendo discussion on /v/ to keep you busy?

Let's not turn this into a console wars thread. Start your own thread for that.

Why was the English translation so poor? It makes the game needlessly difficult.

>> No.4705727

>>4705712
Even with the somewhat poor translation, it's playable. Most of the translation hiccups deal with optional shit.

I think some of the dungeon locations in the second quest are a little bit cryptic, mainly the usage of the flute to get into the grave. I didn't expect the flute to do anything other than drain a lake and warp me, I don't think there's any hints that it also uncovers other secrets.

First quest is easy peasy though, especially if you draw maps... drawing maps for that game is fun and I wish there were more grid based games like it. Adding scrolling to ALLTTP was a mistake.

The "place where fairies aren't" bit is a little tough for a kid brain.

>> No.4705757

>>4705750
It's vague as shit in the butchered English translation, but the original text said "There is a secret in the lake without a fairy." and it's still hinted at in the English manual, which the game tells you to read before playing.

>> No.4705768

The entrance to level 8. The "hint" towards which bush to burn isn't very clear and the bush doesn't stand out THAT much.

It's fair to assume that a player has the manual for any cartridge based games. Many Atari games are totally incomprehensible without the manual

>>4705757
But it's also not reasonable to claim there's nothing cryptic about the english version of a game because the japanese version is clear

Really though it lead to the early equivalent of social gaming and massive cred to the kid at school who figured it out before the guide book came out

It's amazing how myself, and most of the kids I knew, were able to solve this game without guidebooks, Nintendo Power, or the Internet.

Take a good look at the screen level 8 is on, and tell me you WOULDN'T burn that bush just to move through. If you ever go to that screen with a candle, it's the first bush you would burn.

This. Why is /vr/ getting so much spam lately?

>Why is /vr/ getting so much spam lately?
1. Trolls found out they could use things like this as bait to keep people luring in time after time.
2. It's spring break so kids got more time to be ignorant and pretend they're just shitposting.

And yet it's a far more useful tip than "arrows cost money to use" since any retard can see your rupee count drop when you use one.

Strangely they didn't include the other incredibly superior hints in the Japanese release like "Locked doors need keys to open" and "touching bad guys will make your health go down"

They brought it back for Breath of the Wild, some of the merchandise even says "The Hyrule Fantasy" on it.

Or did you mean the big stone triangle and the leaves behind the logo as well? Because I miss that too.
