Sorry dude, seeing as its gonna be part of Combined_Arms, I'm gonna make BFGs the new crate weapons, and any weapon set will be able to wield any crate weapon.
This will mean I'm gonna need to make all of the crate weapons really good though, so the daibatana is gonna get tweaked a little, and the flare gun and havoc rebounder will probably just get removed.

I like the rebounder too but a lot of people don't realize how strong it is, probably because from a lack of feedback. So I'll have to either remove it or do something about the feedback stuff because this is a case of people getting confused again.

Kinda like how a lot of people are confused over the fact you don't have auto subweapon fire when unarmed in GMOTA, but you can throw at almost double the rate if you tap, I'm gonna have to scale that back and make it autofire seeing as that mechanic is confusing too many people. Kinda pisses me off to be honest.

what do you have? I'm thinking a gamesir t1s myself. it's compatible with desktop as well, comes with a small wireless connector. I had supposed bluetooth input wouldn't provide as much accuracy or be as responsive as direct input anyways, I just hope it's not too hindering.

That'd b pretty cool hahaha. I like both, but that's not important. There's nothing wrong with not liking slaughterwads/levels but that's just the way Erik alm liked his doom. He wanted it to ramp up in difficulty to an extreme degree. If you want something like the first half, try map29 of scythe 2. no slaughter. Just a hard map that doesn't need to throw hundreds of monsters at you to be challenging. Like j said before- why not change difficulty? Skill 2 allows for a lot more freedom than you think, or even skil 1. Hell, maybe try playing it with demonsteele or trailblazer if you just want a fun time.


Overall try and research some wads before you dedicate serious time into them. Back to Saturn x and Epic 2 are the kinds of wads that showcase difficulty without relying on slaughter

It's really not, not OP enough for this.

The M1 does good damage, and the grenade launcher can be super deadly if you use the poison gas right, but it's SO limited.
I've beat episode 5 and like TNTR, it's one of those experiences which really solidifies my need to make a proper BFG9000 replacement, because you just can't do total slaughter with the existing weapons without being raped.

As it looks now, it sort of makes normal gameplay potentially a lot easier (depending on how difficult the encounters get), but makes really full on slaughter near impossible, because you're a lot more vulnerable.

Hey Soulless anon, if you are still here, i finished your map. Great stuff, can't complain, the only part i didn't like was the pinkies, and the fact they can drain you so fast, but you seem to have used them well, so they don't become annoying. The first encounter with them gave me a hearty scare, but i'm glad you didn't opt for cheap jumpscares. All the random knocking sounds and shit were great. I actually got quakedroid to play on 120 fov with a crosshair and everything. I'm definitely not the kind of dipshit who says that slaughtermaps are trash, but I admit that I don't really know how to parse them. The tight chaos of the earlier Going Down maps still fits into my "Doom" mindset of enemy prioritizing and taking whatever cover I can. But once it's about running around big arenas with hundreds of monsters all firing off, I just get kinda lost. I assume it's the same idea of prioritizing enemies and fighting for cover, but there's just so much going on that I'm not sure what the (or even *a*) right answer is. I guess making sense out of that chaos is what separates the men from the boys. I just wish I knew if my death came from me doing something totally wrong or if I just didn't gitgud enough.

You can get quad damage, sure, but why use your axe for that if you have guns?

For Doom, the berserk pickup lasts the entire level and gives you a punch like a bomb, while it's dangerous to use in many situations, there's ones where it's extremely useful and potent.

I really kind of like Duke's pistol because it's actually not bad.

For Doom, the Chaingun just makes the pistol obsolete from practically every point of view short of desperate ammo conservation or maybe hitting a switch, since the ammo pool is the same and you really don't find yourself going back to the pistol for fighting if you have the Chaingun.

In DN3D, the pistol has it's own ammo pool, and a reasonably sizeable one, all things considered, so even if you burn through all your ammo with the Ripper, you have your pistol, and it can kind of give you some rapid fire, Duke just fucking magdumps with haste, the reload animation is basically to stop you from employing it like a machinegun, but even so Duke is pretty fast at swapping mags, so it's a very brief interruption.
It's got a good enough rate of fire that it can be used for some minor stunning while you maneuver, combine with kicking if you get up in their grill, and it can genuinely stunlock some enemies with good reliability, just keep pulling the trigger as you kick the dude in the cock over and over, and he likely won't get a window to retaliate. I find this works on octabrains and pig cops quite well, as long as they don't have an entourage.
Given that you find ammo for it intermittently, and it's the weapon you otherwise use the least, if you have to, you'll usually have a decent ammo pool to fall back to if you run short on other munitions.

It also has a satisfying POW POW POW sound effect, and I like to swap to it when I freeze enemies (particularly the Protector Drones), with a Hasta LaVista.
That it also vaguely looks like a Hi-Point kind of makes me chuckle; the idea that a macho badass with an attitude goes to war with a completely poorfag gun. They work, I suppose.

I just realized that the first episode of Doom 2 is kind of an introduction to the new beastiary (along with the SSG and megasphere), until map 12, where the game kinda goes "now that you've met your new foes and all, hope you can keep it up until the journey ends"
I also liked how the one simply designed level that spawned a subgenre of maps was used to introduce two new monsters at the same time
