What's your favorite game in the 6-Pak?

>> No.4695878

Revenge of Shinobi by a long shot.
The pal version of the 6-Pak swapped Golden Axe and Super Hang On for Monaco GP and Sega soccer.

>> No.4695925

Sonic 1 obviously. Golden Axe is pretty fun for kicks though.

>> No.4695978

Golden axe but I play SOR and Shinobi everyday on it recently. Columns is good too

super hang on fuck you

EIther SOR or Sonic

>> No.4697763

As a kid I only really enjoyed Sonic, Golden Axe, and fucking ADORED Streets of Rage, but goddamn if I didnt love those games. 6 pak was the best gaming investment my cheap ass parents could have made

>> No.4697779

>>4695869
Shinobi but the copyright changes anger me unnecessarily so I would probably play Golden Axe if you stuck it in my console right now

>> No.4697825

I hated Monaco GP, which game would you have it replaced it?

I personally would have put in Decap Attack or ThunderForce 2.

Also i don't like Golden Axe, with those cheap lock combos from the enemies where you cannot break them and the final boss is brocken.

Also i wonder if Sega would have ever released a vol2.

Good simple thread

Revenge of Shinobi followed closely by Golden Axe (#1 if playing with a friend)

All of them except for Super Hang-On. I think what upset me the most was the second or two delay between a button press and onscreen movement. Really don't know how the fucked up the controls that bad considering how good the original arcade game is

>> No.4698189

Columns was a good time killer but me and my brother would play streets of rage a lot

>> No.4698251

Btw, I believe the concept of greatest hits packs for Sega games and maybe videogames in general comes from Paco Pastor, Sega of Spain president in the early 90s, which was a former musician and brought the concept of greatest hits from the music industry to the game industry. He started doing this, though, in the 80s, when he worked at Erbe during the 8-bits computer boom.

is golden axe really worth playing? playing capcom games, sor and then this game made it look really bad.

If you compare it to the Capcom D&D beltscrollers then no it obviously doesn't measure up but it's still pretty sweet. You get to ride monsters that's pretty sweet. The amazon can summon a fuckhueg dragon and everybody is more naked. Some of these might be selling points for you.

You can beat it in about 30 minutes, it's pretty fun disposable beat 'em up fantasy. I'd recommend playing with a friend for fun and frustration from friendly fire

Yeah, it's a pretty mediocre belt sander.
The Six-Pak also has Streets of Rage though, so it's all good, even if it's not 2.

I mostly played multi with my bro and friends so...

GA > SoR > Shinobi > Sanic > Super Hang-On > Columns

All were great tho. The 6-pak was a god send for poorfags like me growing up.

same here.
Honestly all consoles should always re-release old games in compilations and for reduced prices.
During the playstation 1 and 2 eras I of course was still poor so those $20 Greatest Hits discs were awesome

why yes, and they went a step further. Not only did they make a compilation but they also improved graphics and sound AND released an unreleased Mario game in the west.

>> No.4700297

Golden Axe makes me want to rip my pubic hair off, but I remember loving it as a kid. It's a great co-op game I guess.

My favourite is probably Sonic 1 followed by Revenge of Shinobi. But I've played Sonic 1 so many times I want to give the other games a chance

GA2 fixed the combat and greatly improved the magic system if you haven't tried it yet.

>>4700065
never thought i'd see this game again. my friend had a copy and we used to play it all the time with Sonic and Power Rangers

I didn't have it but I had streets of rage 2 and had already beat it. I went to a friend's house and he had the 6 pack. We played rage and at the boss I chose to join the bad guys and got dropped back a level and didnt have the lives to finish. He moved about a week later and I never got to finish. Anyways to me streets of rage was best.

Revenge Of Shinobi was also excellent.
The things they did with the relatively limited Genesis sound chip, specially early in the system's life, was nothing short of amazing.

Revenge of Death Adder (arcade only) is the "actually good" version of Golden Axe. I'm still pretty fond of the original, although I think Alien Storm did it better.

>> No.4702161

Sonic 1

>> No.4702376

Streets of Rage, closely followed by Columns.

Sonic 1 is boring.
Golden Axe is garbage.
I suck at Super Hang On.
Revenge of Shinobi is kinda awkward. I kinda like it but I hate that weird drum sound in the music and Shinobi III is the vastly superior game while featuring pretty much the same things but with better controls, graphics, sound, music, everything's better.

>> No.4702465

>>4695869
My favorite is Columns. Sometimes I will play Super Hang on or Shinobi. I never play Golden Axe or Streets of rage anymore, because I beat them and I don't have any friends anymore. I also have Sonic already, so its more like a 3-pak for me.

>> No.4702468

>>4700370
They always were, though.

Like, an original printing of FFVII could at one point go for $50-$60, while a GH version cost $15.

But that's a collector thing. If you just wanna play the game (like me) then buy disc only. If you want it to sit and be pretty, then pay for the original print. Simple as that.

the funny thing is the gh's versions are rarer than the black label and often have bug fixes that aren't in the originals.

The Genesis version has an incredibly challenging career mode where parts wear out and break, I'm not 100% if it's in the 6-Pak but it's pretty awesome. I believe there are different tracks as well but that honestly doesn't matter that much in Hang On lol
