The weebs were right for once, the Japanese soundtrack for Sonic CD was better better than the American one.

Sonic Boom > You Can Do Anything tho

>> No.4694148

Perfect Sonic CD soundtrack would be Japanese one but with Sonic Boom
You cannot deny this

>> No.4694149

It pretty much 50/50. Some tracks are stupid or overwrought in the JP version or just too ambient in the US one.
A perfect soundtrack would be certain songs from each region.

The "weebs" are always right, gaijin man.

Metallic Madness US is too good for this shitty game

This. JP is better with a literal one track exception. You Can Do Anything is a decent song but Sonic Boom became an anthem of sorts - remixed countless times, was Sonic's Smash Bros theme, has a cartoon named after it. It was the clear victor.

>that feel when you realize that, while the Sonic CD soundtrack was a nice novelty, and it did have some good tracks in it, nothing ever can really surpass Masato Nakamura's score for Sonic 1 and 2.
Let's face it, we can circlejerk about CD US/JP or 3&K shit even 3D Blast Sat/MD if you want, but let's face it, Nakamura is the encyclopedia definition of "Sonic music".

It sounds industrial and robotic.
It works

not as good as the US version.
So much of the JP music sounds like the generic approximation of American club music as made by a Japanese guy.
At least the Us music is weird and shows some actual musicality.

I switch soundtracks every playthrough since I like both a lot. I'm really glad that was included in the ports.

Nah it's not about that. Sonic CD isn't even difficult. But it's nice to be able to explore the levels, with the time limit on the remake you can almost never enjoy the good future levels without getting a time over.
At any rate, it's a missing feature and that sucks. I assume it was more of an oversight than something they removed on purpose.

If someone uses it in a discussion about the series, be more wary when considering their opinion because they're casual fans at best.
