Sorry to hijack the thread with a Saturn question, but I have a Japanese model housed in a UK shell I bought from an Amiga based forum and never got a PSU for; would the SaturnPSU be a good idea to install to get around this? I plan on getting the DC one as well, and the Rhea and DC equivalent.

That’s what I’m planning to do as well for my japanese Saturn. You need to buy a separate, specific for your country’s power grid, (laptop)-power supply anyway. So yeah, you can install it in your japanese Saturn and use it, with a correct (laptop) PSU, in your country.

The DreamPSU is a simple, fast to install replacement power supply for the SEGA Dreamcast that not only reduces heat inside your console from the original power supply, which can help extend the life of your Dreamcast, but also frees up some much needed internal space for any other mods you may have or want to install. It is also fully compatible with the GDEmu and USB-GDRom as well as the original Dreamcast GDROM disc drive.

Considering how replacement Dreamcasts are $50, probably not unless if your machine has strong sentimental value or else you live in Timbuktu where getting a replacement would be physically difficult.

>> No.4688638

>>4688331
Just because Dreamcast inexpensive now doesn't mean we can, or should be wasteful with them.

That being said, the dreampsu seems like chinkshit, and they still make you buy a wall adaptor independently instead of supplying one for you. I'd much rather take the original PSU out, put it into an independently, well ventilated enclosure and rewire it back inside. At least then if the PSU damages from heat, it wont be as likely to kill or heat the rest of the system. So buying a new one leaves you with a replacement unit and a new PSU, rather than a dead unit and a "new" one.

1) Does anyone else own a Total Control 3 who can tell me if saturn 3D pads are not supported? My normal saturn pad works but my 3D pad doesn't respond at all. It's already an iffy device sometimes so I dunno if it's the controller or the unit.

>>4693851
CDR burns often compromised the original game elements in some way in order to fit the original 1GB disks onto 700MB CDs, in the case of a game like Shenmue there are probably legitimate sound issues.

I've seen similar stuff, like I had a burned CD of House of the Dead 2, and the voice acting would get cut off before it finished, like it couldn't load it fast enough.

>>4694323
Shenmue can be ripped with nothing modified. Check out my NoBS-DC rip. AFAIK it's the only one that's more or less perfect with the CDDA working properly.
Shenmue II is a different story. That game is massive, and the audio does have to be cut back significantly. I finished disc 1 of the game with all the audio intact but I haven't had the fortitude to do the rest. I'd like to some day though, as I think I can manage better sound quality than the 80 minute full speech rip that's out there.

>PAL games (specifically Shenmue 2) have no performance issues in regards to display or sound quality when you use AV

Huh, do you mean that no matter what output you use, you won't find any degradation in performance of the game? Because that's got nothing to do with how the game will run or anything.

Shenmue 2 actually has some slowdown in several places, and can go as low as 20fps as lot of the time regardless of what output you use.
