they only copy information they find on forums. If you want to hate someone, hate the people who popularized them there in the first place.

Emulate.

The MLG approved monitor costs about 250 bucks and you can build an emulation pc for the same amount. Games are free, of course. CRT shaders make the games look "like developers intended."

It ain't their fault that you've been living under a rock and didnt snatch those models back when there was basically no demand for them yet. You've only got yourself to blame.

I bet you're the same kinda guy who complains that older (especially Nintendo) games have become ludicrously expensive because of MUH ECELEBS! or something like that. What if I told you that demand was already growing bigger long before your boogeymen became so popular?

Made in the late 90's, model name ends with "tron" (it means that they were copying Sony's Trinitron after the patent ran out on their tech) or is itself a Trinitron. Not flat screen, not HD.

>> No.4683992

>>4683978

I'm not an expert, just parroting what I've picked up from other people, but from what I understand the geometry just isn't quite right with flat screens.

Lots of people still use them though and are perfectly happy to do so. So if that's what you can get, go for it.

I feel that a curved screen is part of the appeal, but that's subjective. Also, Trinitron's don't have a bubble screen, they only curve horizontally.

That is a fantastic example of exactly what the other Anon is talking about. That set will weigh in excess of 100 extremely front heavy handholdless pounds. It will occupy approximately the same amount of space as a coffee table. Yes, it probably cost nearly $1k fifteen years ago and it would offer an excellent (but not ideal) display for gaming but serious retro gamers generally do not want them that big. The days of serious competitive local console multilayer in SD are long gone and the people who do want to play on CRT want something they can sit on their desk or at most a small TV stand at their feet.

I want a BVM so bad, but they just aren't available in my area. An eBay auction just ended for one, and I set up a snipe for a whole month's worth of pay, disregarding food, rent, and fuel; yet the ending bid still blew my snipe out by far and away. I will admit, I didn't know about how much I wanted the BVMs until after 2007, but I can never afford them.

>>4682251
Out here in the middle of nowhere USA, the local TV stations used the earliest LCDs as they were founded so they used the most "high tech" they can get which were those ghosting flat panels at 1024x768. I think they used the mobile PVMs in their vans which were B&W and 9" which doesn't suit the gaming I do. The hospitals out here used those too, and what I saw, they still do along the hallways.

>>4682441
I am so jealous. That is a beautiful setup.

I see so many here on /vr/ complaining they do not have the room for CRTs. While I do have room for one, as demonstrated with my battlestation, I cannot afford a quality CRT.
