I think DQI could be considred open world as you can go to every place in the map,except for the final castle, from the beginning of the game. DQII is such a shit game that it's not worth a mention.

Rolled the NES version on the /vr/ Gauntlet. I had played the hell out of this one but the game is still super impressive for what it is, especially given it's an NES game.

It taught me how to be a tradelord. Also to love the age of exploration.

See, this game has the makings of a good game, but since it has no story beyond "I want to be a tank piloting bounty hunter so I'mma do that" and then you just do stuff until you reach an end point...so for me there wasn't much incentive to actually keep playing it after about 5 hours since I'd seen all the gameplay variations already and the rest was just grind.

It's basically the same as any emulator for most games...you just mount the game and boot it up...shit gets complicated with Brandish 3, though when you've got like 8 disks and you have to make a virtual disk to save onto and swap them all into the right slots.
