Nah, it's good, it isn't perfect like some people make it seem, but it remains a legitimately good game in 2018, and was revolutionary for its time. It's easily the best 3D Mario ever made and a solid game on its own merits. I know it's hard to appreciate the game being that you're probably a 17 year old spermling who played it on an emulator for 15 minutes the other day, but viewed through an objective lense, it does so many things right. Personally, I'm more of a Banjo guy, but the two are pretty different gameplay wise, and I enjoy them both.

SM64 is a faster and more fluid games but Banjo is far superior in terms of aesthetics, music and characters. It just feels like more of an adventure, and I like all of the special touches like being able to go into Banjo's house, the various secrets hidden around, etc.

Banjo is about exploring. Each level is like a little carnival where you engage in minigames to acquire treasures, whether that be memorizing a musical pattern or running through a maze. The actual platforming is very minimal. Super Mario 64 is about tackling physical obstacles and using techniques and intertia to reach previously inaccessible areas. The fact you can't differentiate between these two concepts, and the fact you think a game like Banjo needs SM64-style movement to be good, is pretty indicative of your cashew-tier intelligence. Please stop being retarded and accept that both games are good for different reasons.

Uh what about the camera? It works basically the same way as SM64 but gets stuck less often. And what are the other "thousand things"? Let's see, fantastic graphics, fantastic music, adequate controls, plenty of content, great dialogue and humor, huge worlds to explore, lots of hidden secrets... yeah, I'm not seeing anything so far.

I disagree entirely. It's good. The worlds are solid and memorable. The controls are tight and I, personally, never had any trouble with the camera. It's appropriately long. It's not very hard, but it's not piss easy. It has some beautiful set pieces. I'll concede it's a bit weak in the boss fights and preceding stages. But they make up a small portion of the game.

Best game of all time. Most popular speed run game proves it. Those runs are insane with what you can do. A good player picking the game up would take 24 hours or more to get that many stars. They do it in under 2.

Agree with what you said. Both are technically playformera and similar in many ways. Obviously Banjo takes a huge credit from SM64 but it’s different enough to stand alone on its own merits. Still prefer SM64 and it’s onjectively the better game regardless of its influence and ground breaking stature.
