ITT eBay

I paid $15 for Perfect Dark, complete in box in "very good condition". I got a package that looks like this in the mail. apparently this guy doesn't know how to shipped boxed games properly, cus I'd NEVER use this kind of box. Pics of damaged game box coming up.

before someone calls me an idiot and asked how else you would ship a boxed game (provided some /v/irgin hasn't come over and done that before I finish writing this), it's simple! You take everything out of the box, then open both sides. After that, you fold the box...well, maybe "push down" is a better term. Anyway, the box is flat when you ship it. That was it won't get crushed, and it can easily be folded back out in perfect condition in a matter of seconds. The moral of the story is if you're shipping a boxed N64 game, don't just throw it in a big brown box.

Had the same thing happen to me OP. Bought a closed in box Secret of Monkey Island for 15£. The dude shipped the bix box in a goddamn paper envelope.

I could see in photos that it had been in pristine condition before shipping, but of course a large empty box with just a few floppies inside it would get dented to hell in transit.

Long story short, I demanded either my money back, including both the original shipping fee and the price of returning the item, OR a 8£ discount on the item. Initially the seller declined, but after some messagea back and forth I got to keep the item and got 8£ back.

>> No.467576

>>467557
I sent the seller this message: I received the item in damaged condition and with "received in damaged condition tape" over the box. I purchased this item as a collector and would like a partial refund"

His response: "So you are blaming me for a item that showed up with damaged tape on it. That seems like a shipping problem. Not my fault. It was in perfect condition. If you want to send it back that's fine please do for a full refund."

I responded: "I have to assume you are inexperienced in shipping boxed N64 games, as the box should have been folded flat. This would prevent this kind of damage. I'm not going to bother with the hassle of shipping it back to you when the actual game is only worth about $5. The only reason I paid your price was for the box, which is now damaged. If you refuse a partial refund, I will respect your decision and close the case."

He's getting negative feedback, though, unless get a partial refund, in which case he will get neutral.

As the buyer, you should not be out of pocket due to poor packaging on the sellers behalf. Hi, I'm a manager at a distribution warehouse. I use all major shipping companies every day.

In my experience, for shipping overseas, DHL is actually the least expensive and the fastest. After that, I would say FedEx and UPS are about the same, just check rates on their site. I prefer UPS since basic Ground service gets a same-day pick up, while FedEx Ground is delayed a day.

UPS is generally a good carrier, it comes down to individual bad apples who handle packages poorly. But the management takes complaints very seriously; if you ever have a damaged carton or bad service from a driver, give them a call (1-800-PICK UPS) and talk to an agent.

And again, I prefer UPS within the US because of this >>468608. But DHL overseas.

I can't find any info about them online, this is the only photo I can find of them, I have 2 that I got at a yard sale. They say they are made by Rhino or whatever, but on the back it says Asciiware. They have turbo switches, 1st position is normal, 2nd position is hold down for turbo, 3rd position is turbo autofire.

Also it has a switch on the back of the controller that when slid one way, it will slow the game down to help you play/cheat at fast paced games.

You been to a Post Office lately? Go and have yourself some fun.

If you have a regular UPS driver, or any mail carrier really, buy them a bottle of liquor/wine/nice beer, spend $15, just as a gift. Introduce yourself to them. This will do wonders for the level of service you will receive from them.

You aren't a waiter at a restaurant nor are you a pizza delivery guy. You aren't paid less and expected to make up the rest on tips, nor are you someone who has to pay for your own gas and car maintenance even though you deliver.

>> No.469061

And you're not supposed to bribe/tip the fucking deliveryman, just get on his good side so he gets on yours. Or don't, you're the one liable to lose on this deal.

excuse me, but UPS charges outrageous prices even for the most basic delivery options, I don't think it's too much to ask for when I just want some not-shitty service

I'm not that anon, neither a deliveryman, i just can relate. I don't even live in the US, but i get so many packages a week i'm already buddies with pretty much everyone on the delivery force.

Yeah, me too. My driver is a cool guy. I get deliveries once a week or so, I know his name and a little about his family from just shooting the shit while signing for stuff. I got him a bottle of bourbon for Christmas because he's a bro and he brings me games. People should just be nice to each other.

>>469068
>UPS charges outrageous prices
$15 for a game, coast to coast, five days.
USPS: $12 for the same weight, coast to coast, eight days.

And UPS has better service (actual real tracking, you can reroute shipments to a different address, pick them up at the distro center, etc) than USPS which I believe is worth the added value. This is just my opinion.

People have consistent mailmen?

I get different guys every time from the various mail services. Every once in a while I'll have a repeat meeting with one of them but it's usually someone completely different.

>> No.469205

>>469185
In most cities in the US, all the regular carriers give routes to their drivers and delivery persons. Sometimes they'll get switched out, or they'll ask for a different route, but yeah it's pretty consistent.

Where do you live?

My town is pretty small but i get like 5 different people here, guess it depends on time. I still know all of them enough to greet on the street and stuff like that, and delivery times actually seem to have sped up somewhat since then.

UPS: 11.44€ for a national package, 2 days delivery
32.96€ if you want it delivered till noon the next day

DHL: 4.10€, +3€ for pickup; 1-2 days
13.90€ + 6€ for pickup, guaranteed delivery on the next day, another 5€ for delivery till noon

at least in my country UPS is vastly overpriced
oh, and they don't have any post offices nearby, so if you arent at home when they deliver your shit you can't just pick it up at the post office, you'll have to wait for the guy to come back next day. Hope you're unemployed, so you'll be at home when he comes...

Certainly in Yurop, DHL is the best choice. They don't do domestic shipments within the US anymore, though. They stopped a year or two ago. They only ship internationally from the US.
