Turbo Tunnel is a pretty easy level after a few tries, you just gotta memorize a few parts. I don't get why some people call it "the hardest level of all time", since there are harder levels in the game. The problem with Battletoads is that some parts rely on memorization, since you are certain to die on your first try. I didn't beat it yet, but every time I play I can get a little further without dying, and I don't consider myself that skilled.
Are there other games that are considered "extremely hard"?

BATTLETOADS thread?

Could be.

I think BattleToads in Battlemaniacs is very mediocre compared to the other games in the series. The "Turbo Tunel" level is ok (I think it might be a little harder than the nes version), but the rest of the game is "meh".

I think the hardest level is the last level, only because the whole thing seems like it was designed to make you impatient and try to make jumps too soon.

I think the last level is the only true "hard" level. The others you can beat after a few tries, since they rely most on muscle memory.

It's long, so it makes you anxious because you want to finish it fast. Since it's the last level, you get the feeling you are almost there, but you gotta keep the level's pace, so it's like a mind test.

I'd honesty play an entire game made of vertical levels with the quality of The Revolution and Includer Excluder; with some tweaks the game could have been a true classic instead of the tired Nintendo Harrrrd meme it has become.

> Ragnarok's Canyon
Keep as-is, good and fun introductory level

> Wookie Hole
Keep as-is, even add a second one later on. Super fun to play, specially in co-op.

> Turbo Tunnel
Maybe tweak a little (like in the Japanese version) to smooth the difficulty curve for meme crybabies

> Arctic Caverns
Keep as-is. Maybe less one-hit kills.

> Surf City
Best vehicle level, keep as-is

> Karnath's Lair
Good concept but only fun the first time around. Either do a complete design audit or dump it.

> Volkmire's Inferno
Just a crappier Turbo Tunnel. Dump it

> Intruder Excluder
Probably the best level in the game, keep as-is. Maybe redesign the checkpoints

> Terra Tubes
Could use a good design revision, it relies a lot on memorization, but it's fun and challenging anyway.

> Rat Race
Challenge a bit too steep, but a good twist on Intruder Excluder

> Clinger Winger
Asshole move. Fucking dump it or use a revised version earlier in the game

> The Revolution
Perfect final challenge, keep as-is.

But this game is a classic, even with the uuuultra haaarrrrd meme. NES BATTLETOADS easily enter in my top 5 NES GAMES.

Most people that discuss old games have only played a fraction of the library so they have no points of reference. That isn't even accounting for people who play with save-states or other such things who's points of reference are worthless. Or people who enjoy parroting things they hear from games they havn't played.

The average /vr/ user is no exception.

Volkmire's Inferno is my least favorite level in the game, it looks harder than turbo tunnel the first time you play, but only because after the falling rockets part it relies only in memorizing the patterns, since you will certanly get a game over the first time.you play no matter how skilled you are.

op is full of bullshit. Battletoads is not a game in which you can rely on memorization. Proof for that is this video:

Because modern video games have taught them that anything remotely difficult should have multiple save points along the way and unlimited tries.

Battletoads is a game of memorization. Not all of it but some parts are, since a lot of stuff kills you in one hit you gotta die at least once to know whats coming next, like Volkmire's Inferno level.

So what are their official colors? In the nes version Zits is brown/yellow/whatever and Pimple is green, but in other games is the opposite. They made Zits different just because he's player 2?
