What controller do you use for emulation? At the moment all I've got is a crappy generic PS2 style controller I bought from GAME, which is fine mostly for PS1 and 2 games and older consoles like NES, but its pretty terrible for consoles with more complicated controller layouts like N64. Whats a good general purpose USB controller?

This or Dual Shock 2 with USB adapter.
Yes, X-Box layout is odd. But 6 face buttons, and the awesome Hori springs under every button = love.

I try to play games as closely as I can to how the developers intended it to be played:

the only better controller would be the exact same thing with 6 face buttons instead of 4

A generic cheap dualshock-like one, works fine although the pad is a little hard on the thumb, N64 is also my headache with the damn c-buttons.

Some anon in another thread suggested mapping the c-buttons to the right stick, would that work with most games? I have little N64 experience and don't know if games require to press multiple c-buttons at once.

>> No.468767

>>468735
Some N64 FPS titles let you map the c buttons as a movement pad, and pressing 2 at the same time let you move diagonally, so yes.

>> No.468819

>>468735
yes. I do that all the time. I have the F510 with dualshock layout and simply map the C-buttons on the second analog stick.

works for zelda games pretty well. I also do it for Banjo-Kazooie and other titles.

Am I the only one who thinks the playstation controller is shit? the L2+R2 buttons need to be triggers, and the d-pad/analog layout makes my thumb cramp. I guess I got used to the Xbox controllers.

Right now:

- A PS2 USB adapter that I actually bought for my PS3 to use older guitar controllers. It works just fine as a computer adapter, though.

- A Classic Controller USB adapter I got when I thought my Saturn USB pad was done. It's a pretty long cable but very nice otherwise. It's been used a bunch since I got it.

- The aforementioned Saturn USB pad. The original wiring on the controller was fucked and screwed with the D-Pad, and the shoulder buttons stopped working. Luckily, I had a cheap knockoff Saturn USB controller around, so I opened up both controllers and replaced the good controller's wiring with the knockoff's wiring. The shoulder buttons are still fucked, but everything else is perfect, which is great since those legit Saturn USB controllers cost a fortune nowadays.

I got this last week for fighting games and N64 games. Haven't tried it yet cuz I don't have any aaa batterys around but I held it and it looks pretty sweet. I love the rubber on the sides, I have a very similar joystick that has those too, but that one doesn't have the 2 extra buttons.

When I play something with this I'll let you guys know how it went down.

I want to get an SNES usb adapter but the reviews for each are mostly positive, but there's the occassional review that says there's input lag or that it just doesn't work.

The Mayflash one I was looking at apparently has problems with SNES controllers with a 5 on the back, and that's all of my SNES controller. I don't know what to do, I just want to play video games man

>The Mayflash one I was looking at apparently has problems with SNES controllers with a 5 on the back
That's a bunch of bullshit, I have one of those and a controller with a "5" on it (isn't that just the model number for all SNES controllers?) it works fine. People complaining about input lag are equally retarded, if you use an emulator that doesn't have shitty v-sync and actually syncs the hardware to your refresh rate, there's no input lag.

Power A mini. Originally bought it because I'm broke as hell and I had lost my mad katz but after I found it again I began to prefer the power a over the katz. All of the buttons including the joysticks are much more responsive and don't get worn out like the katz controllers tend to.
