I'm playing Lennus 2, and fuck, that world is awesomely strange. The gameplay is certainly different as well. What are some other odd titles? Preferably SNES, Sega, and earlier.

Never heard of this game but it looks interesting! Have you played the first one, is it worth my while to possibly start from there or start playing Lennus 2 straight away?

It's beautifully drawn.

Maybe you heard the first one, Paladin's Quest (Lennus 1). You can play Lennus 2 just fine without having played the first.

To contribute to the thread, Mystic Ark (7th Saga 2) ,Magical Land of Wozz and Shell Monster Story are also weird and very good snes rpgs.

It's not a console title, but Sacrifice's setting is Hieronymus Bosch level weird

It's more recent than SNES but Rakugaki Showtime is pretty great, it's like they saw the first Smash and wanted to make something both wackier and more chaotic

Sacrifice seems to be the shit, but I can't seem to find a definitive solution for the resolution/fps, it's locked at 30 (probably would mess things up to be played at a higher framerate, so I don't mind much) and pillar-boxed 480p, which legitimately hurts my eyes...

I haven't tried it yet but there's what's alleged to be a widescreen+hires fix for it here

It did something, the game is displaying a brand new error message now

I'll try again later

Good taste OP, shame the combat is braindead easy and the world is too small to fully emphasize its weirdness

If anything Paladin's Quest did the worldbuilding much better and felt like playing a bizarre sci-fi/fantasy novel, but in game aspects 2 was an improvement
I still have nightmares about getting lost in all the samey-looking corridors and buildings in Gloucester though
