I cant really think of a puzzle platformer that even comes close to this. Any other games like the Wario Land games?

>> No.4632182

The closet thing I can think of is metroid, due in part to it having alot of environmental puzzles. It makes sense in hindsight seeings how alot of the same people worked on it. Didnt sakamoto work on it aswell?

Interestingly enough, I've read that Metroid Fusion and Warhol Land 4 run off the same basic scaffolding (engine?? don't know a lot about software terminology and this is from memory)

Yeah I've heard the same. I wonder what those teams work on now? From a quick google search, turns out alot of the wario people did the 2D metroids which make sense. However it might be coincidence seeing how the team was RND1

The Lost Vikings, maybe?

WL4 is the best GBA game. I kinda want to pick up the others.

WL1 is pretty good, but it's aged a bit with its slow pacing, and the level design is the weakest of the five games.

VBWL is the most similar to WL4. Faster gameplay and more solid level designs in general. It's the shortest Wario, though.

WL2 is where the series diverges into a more adventure/puzzle style, with branching exits and multiple endings. Wario can't die.

WL3 is full on Metroidvania. You learn new abilities and treasures actually have an effect on progress. Like WL2, Wario is immortal.

My favorite is either VB or 4, but they're all real good in their own way.

I actually bought 3D glasses from amazon just so I could play vb wario land on that https://rustualboy.com/ emulator. Right now, 3 and 4 for me are tied.

Didn't know there was a usable VB emulator. I'll have to check that out.

I love how you can't die in this game, you're just midly inconvenienced in some way that sets you back a bit. I've always wondered if there were more games in that style.

I'm still waiting until there's a VB emulator for the 3DS.

I don't even have to play this trash to know the portable Sonic games are better than the portable Mario games. Sega was ahead of its time with the GG.

I can't think of any that aren't retro come to think of it. Limbo and Braid are fun though.
