BR here, people love Blanka. The first time I played SF2 in like 1992, I was going to pick Ryu as my first character, but the crowd of kids gathered around the cabinet screamed for me to "pick the green guy" and I gave in to peer pressure.
I like classic Blanka well enough, though I didn't like him so much around the Alpha 3 time when they made him into hard comic relief with the watermelons and shit. Still better than that boring fuck Sean though.

He's much too healthy-looking to really evoke "American". He's enormously fat, which checks, but he carries it very well, which does not check. He's able to stand in a half-crouch without crippling pain, which very much does not check out. His face displays an expression of pleasure, interest, and wily intention, whereas normal Americans look like they died a week ago (as far as facial expression is concerned). I really don't think it's a very accurate stereotype.

The trouble with video game characters is that they usually need to be competent at doing physical stuff, and fat people are generally not that. Truly real Americans have little place in the fictional worlds of games.

(No, fellow anons, I am not from outside the US. I know what most of us are like. If you have a problem with it, don't attack me. Attack the many, many doughy lump-people in your own life.)
