The next wave of preorders for the Super NT are supposed to ship tomorrow but I have no idea how long it’s supposed to take. The only option was $40 shipping so I’m hoping it’s next day for that price. Anyone who was in the first round of orders remember how long it took them?

I don't know if they changed their logistics partner since the first round of preorders considering the amount of backlash they got, but assuming they didn't, expect it to be standard UPS ground shipping. That's what I got with my day 1 preorder. I got the system in my hands a week later (released 2/7, arrived 2/14). Mind you, I'm on the east coast and they ship from Nevada, so your mileage may vary.

The people outside the US seem to have gotten a much better deal for their money, they use DHL International 2-day shipping and it doesn't cost much more than the US ground shipping. It's freaking bizarre, but they ended up getting their systems much quicker for the most part.

That said, I'm happy after all is said and done. They really knocked it out of the park for hardware quality, even if their shipping options are lacking. People seem to forget that huge companies like Amazon, eBay, Newegg, etc. have in-house shipping logistics and discount rates out the ass. While small business have to rely on standard business-class service, and third-party shipping logistics companies to manage the volume of preorders they have(who tack on their own fees to the cost so they can make money). Analogue have explained this in the past on Twitter but I don't know when exactly it was.

>expect it to be standard UPS ground shipping.
Would it fit in a flat rate large box? USPS charges around $14 for this service. $40 seems steep, and the amount of threads on this system (and the feedback I have gotten) lead me to think that the Developers are posting some of this. It feels insincere, and more like a marketing push.

Hey man, I don't know what to tell you. I'm just another consumer, same as you. I can only report on what I've experienced and that's how it worked out for the first round. You're welcome to flip through Analogue's twitter feed to see what they have to say on the matter, I don't have time for that.

https://twitter.com/analogue_co/with_replies

What it comes down to is basically, you either pay for the shipping, or you don't get a Super NT. I'd rather bite the bullet and pay the money myself, but ymmv. Maybe you want to "protest" the charges by not ordering from them, okay, but you don't hurt anybody other than yourself. They're still going to sell out. Is an extra 20 bucks really the hill you choose to die on?

I had no intention of ordering this, just questioning the logic or the business model. I don't equate playing video games as a life or death situation, I just look at it objectively.

Would this also effect the tax rate for the "sold" Item? I know cross state shipping in the USA does not incur taxes, but the business itself claims gains and losses.

The only reason I ask any of this because I am simply curious.

It doesn't run emulating software like a classic mini, rpi or retro. It directly clones the SNES's inner workings through hardware and adds a bunch of options in terms of resolutions and bells/whistles like that. It works with SFX carts and everdrives too. It's a good hardware solution for native HDMI output too.
It costs twice as much as it should though

>The people outside the US seem to have gotten a much better deal for their money, they use DHL International 2-day shipping

UK here, when they shipped my NT Mini they used DHL and I had tracking all the way. I even had it delivered to a locker at a nearby supermarket as I would have been at work when it was delivered. All in all, from Seattle into my own hands in three days.

For my Super NT however, what a fuck up. This time their logistics partner shipped it UPS international (I payed for DHL), I didn't even get shipping confirmation or tracking until four days after it shipped. UPS was also absolutely fucking abysmal service. I couldn't change delivery day or have it delivered to a pickup point (these are supposed to be options but were greyed out on the tracking page). They tried to deliver it the first time but I was at work. Luckily they left me a handy note saying they would try again tomorrow which was a fat load of fucking use because I would also be at work the next day. Knowing that UPS would only attempt three deliveries before returning to sender I only had one option, to forego signing on delivery (and therefore all rights to confirmation of a successful delivery), basically allowing UPS to leave it on my property without signature at my own risk. They left it on my back porch and I'm just fucking glad it was still there when I got home. Luckily it also didn't rain that day.

Yep. If anything, they should at least ask the customer if they want them to do that or have them declare it themselves.
I don't care about them but if someone's unlucky enough to actually get fucked over because of that obvious lie that's kinda shitty. Never had any trouble with fake numbers before myself but you never know.

They seem to have started doing this on the first wave of Super Nt's. For my Nt Mini I had to pay customs out my ass so I still kind of am glad they put $10 on there without my consent...
