I had this for pc. Was there any difference between this and the console version? If not than i would be in agreement.

No, CTR is objectively best.

I think the PC version only lets you have 1 on 1 races in MP while the other versions might have a 4 player split-screen, but I'm not sure.

Honestly tho, I just suck at them. Racing games aren't for me.

I've never played Lego Racers :(

CTR and Mario Kart are both a blast to play. But I also like Space Race and Wacky Races for the DC, so my opinion isn't to be taken seriously.

This board is literally nothing but contrarians who will look you in the eye and tell you Chrono Trigger is bad. It's like a neverending contest to see who can spitefully have the shittiest taste.

This game is so underrated. Pure 90's cheese but in a good way.
I dont know if it counts as a kart racer but the cars itself are very cartoony.

>> No.4619545

>>4617226
It has Split-Screen, but only when you plug in a second controller. (Joystick, Gamepad, etc...)
Otherwise the Versus Mode is inaccessible. Why the devs did it like that... I don't have a single clue.

>t. wasn't alive in the 90s
CTR was what you played when your parents wouldn't buy you an N64. It was always seen as off-brand Mario Kart back in the day. The N64 was the party console. It was for people who had friends. When you went to somebody's house, and you wanted to play a kart racer, you wanted to play MK64. Sure, you would settle for CTR if your friend didn't have an N64, but it was never anybody's first choice.

>> No.4619656

You only play CTR for the time trial or maybe for the completionist stuff, MK64 is the choice for multiplayer crazyness.
Both are great games anyway.

>> No.4619896

>>4619648

Same thing with the whole Crash series. It was just store-brand Mario for people who didn't have Nintendo. Nine of those games were good, kids just convinced themselves they were.

>> No.4619902

Mario Kart 64 is the best if you actually like go-kart racing, it has the best miniturbo mechanic too.
DKR and CTR are good if you like more "out there" racers with more broad map designs that reward exploration. Mind you MK64 also has some exploration and alternate paths, but it's a lot more focused on the racing aspect.

Why do you people always bring social nonsense in here to point out why something is bad/good? Is it really too hard too point that out about the game instead?

I don't give two flying fucks if people preferred MK and N64 over the PS1, CTR is still a great game. So is MK64. Saying either "sucks" is, I don't know... Having poor taste in gaming at least.

Never played Lego Racers, only pic related.

I loved that game though, was pretty amazing for the time. I loved building my own race car.

>> No.4621695

>>4620896
You'd probably like it more in LR1 because LR2 imposes a strict brick limit on your car design, whereas the only thing that matters in LR1 is whether the car parts fit and the car can't be too vertical. Also, I think LR1 is a tighter, more compact experience, while LR2 decided to go for boring open-world driving in some shitty town for its first part, which wasn't that great..

The main reason I don't think LR1 is a "godlike" kart-racer is because LR1 entirely revolves around getting the maxed out Green upgrade and zipping past the entire stage with it. With some level memorization you can chain it in such a way so as to completely one-side your opponent.

Truth be told, the only way you can really beat rocket racer in the end is by staking three white bricks for the green warp brick power up, just about every other power up, aside from the red brick, is pretty much useless

This would be pretty close to perfection if the cars wouldn't handle like shit.

N64 had a shitload of racing games like that. F-zero X, Beetles Adventure Racing, Extreme G, fucking South Park Racing, Stunt Racer 64, San Francisco Rush, the Cruis'n games, and it also had some weird sports/racer hybrids like Wave Race and Snowboard Kids. Kinda crazy there was so many exclusively on that system when PS was going hard on the simulation stuff with Ridge Racer and Gran Turismo.
