Not sure if you guys can help me, but here is the situation:

I have some old SNES games that I wanted to get the saves from, to use on an SD2SNES (and I'd like to do the same for some Genesis games as well), or maybe emulators at some point.

To do this I picked up a Retron 5. I don't intend to use it for playing games, just pulling the saves off. However, the saves that I get from it are .sav, while the Everdrive and the emulators I've tried to use them with seem to require .srm files, which are apparently not the same as they do not work even when I rename the file.

Any suggestions? It seems like someone put together a converter for .srm to .sav, but not the other way.

I've been trying to get Langrisser 1 on PC to work, but I'm not exactly sure how to get it working. My main issue that I've been stuck on is getting the CD image to be read as the Langrisser CD, but it keeps saying that it's either not recognizing it as Langrisser or not reading it at all. I've tried looking the issue up online, but even on that one forum dedicated to the game, I can't figure out how to fix this issue. All of the documentation that came with the files for the game also confused the heck out of me. Not really sure if maybe I just missed a step or completely messed something up. One thing I noticed was that the download I found had the music files already in .wav form, and the guide I've seen talked about converting the .ogg files to .wav, so I'm not sure if maybe the files available to me are just not compatible with this method or what.

If you are talking about like, old PC games, yes, you can do that with some of them. It's the equivalent of copying the files off the CD into a folder and then running the installer from there. Some games won't run without the CD in a drive (virtual or physical) though.
You can open ISOs with 7zip. This is also handy when you just need one file from the disc.
Some games don't even need to be installed, you could just copy the files and run the exe and it might work. Other games will work partially but fail because they look for registry keys that haven't been set, etc.

If you don't understand this stuff easily, you should just stick to following step-by-step directions.

It depends, but basically no. Some specific emulators like MAME famously have dozens of different versions that are known to have substantial differences in speed and compatibility, so you might be able to look up specific information about those. But for the most part yes it is going to be trial and error. If you experiment for a while, you might start to get a sense for what kinds of things are more likely to be faster on your specific machine.

Then you see how you could use the same thing to connect the NES directly to the transmitter, without using the speakers at all.

As it should be. All aspects of a program should be configurable. If the program you are trying to use has extensive configuration files, you can feel more comfortable that you are actually in control of what it is going to do.

>assuming that you know exactly what you're doing
It might look intimidating, but you don't really have to know anything. Anything you change, you can change back, so you can experiment without risk. It's much easier than having to change settings through a menu, which you might not even be able to access again if you accidentally break the program.

I bought a Nyko Hyper Pak Plus for my N64 on eBay. It's one of those 2-in1 memory card and rumble pack deals with 4 "pages" of memory cards.

It was giving me constant errors about being corrupt every time I turned off the console, so I replaced the internal battery thinking that might be the problem. This doesn't seem to have fixed the issue at all.

If I just hit the reset button, the saves will still be there, but if I actually power the system off, none of the saves hold at all and it will again say it is corrupt. I also tried using different controllers in case that was the issue.

Is it fucked? Anything I can do to fix it? At least the rumble function still works, so it's not a total loss.

Is there an internal battery in the device?

There is, but after replacing it it still isn't working.

Then I don't know what to tell you, because that's exactly what I was going to suggest.

It's a one-letter typo with a letter that is adjacent on the keyboard. "Do SNES game PCBs fit into Super Famicom shells?" is what he meant to say. Did you really have difficulty understanding that?

I don't know the answer, and it seems like a pointless question, but he's obviously asking because they are similar sizes and shapes.

You really want to put the guts of a Japanese game into the American plastic casing?

WHY?

You're a slow one, aren't you. Please READ my fucking post if you are going to reply to me. I don't want to put SNES games in sfc shells. I just replied because you couldn't read English with one minor typo. If you have ever seen the cartridges, you can see why someone might be curious about that (similar sizes and shapes, as I said), which I only point out because it makes the interpretation of the question obvious.

I don't know why that other anon wants to do it. He probably bought a cheap caseless chinese repro with a fan translation of a JP-only game like Live-A-Live and wants to install it in the original case so that he can look at the original art while still playing the game in English. Or he has a caseless everdrive meant for a SNES and wants to know if he can install it in a cheap sfc casing he found on alibaba. Use your imagination. However, as I am now repeating for a third time, it seems pretty pointless to me.

I have a 486DX4-100 machine and I use the Win98SE DOS at the moment. This game does not work on it so far. It just kicks me back to the DOS prompt. I have never tried the game before, and it looks a lot like Power Drift which I loved in the arcades. All my other old DOS games work, like Halloween Harry, Wing Commander 2, Tyrian, Princess Maker 2, Civilization, Sam & Max: Hit the Road, etc. but those were games I had from US computers, I think this World Rally Fever game is from Europe. I don't know if it is a bad copy of the game or just something with Euro games. Any ideas?

Probably not related to being European. Is it a DOS game or a windows game? Have you tried launching it from DOS (i.e., without windows loaded). Also, check your system memory. Some games need almost all of the 640K available. Optimizing memory use is a bitch but necessary for gayman.

Hush, this is on a dedicated retro machine without internet; there's also the fact that it's a native DOS game, and that I wasn't sure how it'd turn out looking in a screenshot
