I don't know if 'discovered' is the right word, since I was aware of the game even before it was released, but I played it until recently.

Deathtrap Dungeon.

It was viewed as mediocre trash when it was released, but honestly I've had a lot less fun with much more highly regarded games than I've had with Deathtrap Dungeon.
