Easily worth every cent of the twenty-five dollars you can get one for. Switches from 240p to 480i to 480p smoothly.

I haven't tried emulating arcade games on Wii emulators, but the ones for virtual console I tried, like King of Fighters, work pretty well, couldn't notice any inaccuracy.

I never liked the wii in general and emulation wise you are better off using a pc,original xbox,or ps3

Wii is literally only good for component analog video output for emulation on a CRT. Getting a modern PC to output a decent analog signal usually involves daisy chaining expensive hardware and significant latency.

If you're emulating on a modern display there's absolutely no reason to use the Wii. For less than $200 you could build a dedicated emulation box that could emulate literally anything with far more accuracy than the Wii and a more unified frontend.

It's great for a CRT setup that supports component. There's very minimal added input delay if you're using a wired controller, for the most part.

Most of the officially supported virtual console titles are pretty good, but there's a few exceptions. N64 games all run in 480i instead of 240p, which makes some games look a bit odd. 2D elements in particular seem to not blend in very well. Some PCE/TG-16 games do not support 240p for some reason. NES games appear a bit darker than they do on a real console, but it looks very sharp in 240p.

Genesis and SNES virtual console seem very accurate, and are probably the best of the VC emulators on the Wii.

Flawlessly running SNES, NES, Game boy, gbc, Genesis and some GBA games on mine. Not every GBA game runs smoothly so far. I haven't tried anything other than these systems titles.
RGB cable makes the colors look gudder. Shitty phone pic related

What is the fucking point of using a home console as emulator?
I'd understand if you wanted to emulate in a portable device, but if you want a machine to stay in your living room, any toaster pc will do a better job.

What causes sideways uploads I wonder?

Anyways, wish it could run Pokémon Emerald. Leaf Green runs just fine and other faster games but Emerald won't even start. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

The Wii outputs native 240p and has pretty decent emulator support plus the option to use VC wads if that's your thing.

>>4570980
Not sure, but it might be a problem with Emerald's real-time clock.

>> No.4570987

It's cheaper, and easier to hook up to a CRT. Practically every Goodwill in this city has them sitting around for about $20 a piece. It's a really good value at that price.

Plus it plays the entire Wii and GC library.

Because it just werks

Who wants to open a file, F11 to full screen, re plug in the USB controller, always have HDMI attached when I could use the laptop for other stuff, whereas my thrifted wii was $23 and connects to he crt better.

No 240p output on the Wii U period. NES and N64 emulation on the Wii U are significantly worse than their Wii counterparts. They both have horribly dark colors and much more noticeable input delay.

I just found out yesterday that the Wii can emulate Sega CD games, so I downloaded the emulator, some bios files and the game Snatcher and boom, works perfectly. You can even set up the wiimote to work as the Justifier lightgun.

>>4571808
Yeah, it is.

>> No.4571867

It's kickass for pre 3rd gen, NES, SMS, GG, Genesis, Sega CD and PC-Engine/CD on a CRT. Results may vary with GBA, SNES, NeoGeo (the game that load work 100% but overall compatibility is low because of RAM limitations) and CPS/CPS-2 (ditto). They're pretty kick ass if you have a CRT but overall pointless if you plan on playing on a LCD and have a capable PC.

Xbox is MILES behind, half the shit on it is completely outdated and the controller is ass for 2D games. PS3 is about on-par but interlaced to hell on a CRT, depends on what you're after. You should hack a PS3 anyway of course, it's an easy softmod now and great value.

>>4571867

I never got round to testing it but there's a version of Final Burn Alpha that can surpass the RAM limit now. You have to convert each rom first but it seems to work fine for people: https://gbatemp.net/threads/large-neogeo-games-support-and-cps3-tests.493767/

>>4573950

Multiman is the shits, WebMAN is also pretty poor. In its prime PS3 homebrew seemed to attract a more 'l33t hacker' community where everything became a dark, aesthetic eyesore cramming in as much information as possible into every pixel. Wii backup loaders like ULGX and Wiiflow always went for a sort of living room media center approach, they've always been very easy for guests to figure out. It's a shame there's nothing even close for PS3.
