Certainly not Trash Bandicunt.

My top 3 are Klonoa, Jumping Flash 2, and Rape Escape.

>> No.4569060

Can you even really call Crash Bandicoot a platformer? It's more like... bowling with jumping and collecting.

Assuming you mean platformers and not action-platformers, though the line does blur. What would you call Little Ralph, Tomb Raider or Heart of Darkness? idk

Best:
Crash Bandicoot 1/2/3
Spyro the Dragon 1/2/3
Croc 1/2
Klonoa
Jumping Flash 1/2
Ape Escape
Tombi 1/2
Gex 1/2/3

Average:
Bugs Bunny 1/2
40 Winks
Jersey Devil
Jinx
Pandemonium 1/2
Hermie Hopperhead

Bad:
Rascal
Johnny Bazookatone
Floating Runner
Blasto

That's all I can remember right now.

Crash is like Hugo except not on-rails, making it easier. But the fundamentals of level design and controls are mostly the same. Crash does have a way to attack enemies, which also makes it easier, but other than that, it's the same corridor-platforming concept.
I don't know why people hate Hugo though, I thought it was cool especially for the weird phone technology. Crash isn't the best platformer ever, but it's unique in its approach. Not many games tried to follow Hugo's steps.

>corridor-platforming concept
according to you all 2D platformers are "corridor-platformers" because you can't waste time in them on aimless wandering like in some boring collectathon like Spyro or Banjo

*Laugh

Its kind of a funny thing but when I asked some friend of mine whether he played Oddworld games on psx he didnt remember.
I tried to stir his memory by playing the whole "Hell -> Follow me -> ok" scene.

I should have known he did not played it when he didnt respond to the name, there is no way you forget the name, this game has some fucking character

>> No.4569941

>>4569918
Its actually a good thing, considering how limited psx was that was the only way they could show us those funny and lively levels.
Otherwise it would be like spyro with crash controls and full of empty, open space areas.

>> No.4570059

I appreciate its aesthetics, it really is a stunning looking game. But it is disappointing how mechanically simplistic it is--simpler than many platformers from a decade earlier!
It was worth a playthrough but don't see myself replaying it.

>> No.4570112

>>4570059
Because all crashes are the same, just a run through a level while staying alive and killing enemies.

It was never about replayability or exploration, just enjoy the colourful and fun levels, wacky enemies and the challenge.

Replaying levels come from you wanting a highscore or those crystals.
But if you dont care about any of those, its fine, just enjoy the levels, see the things you never seen, try to get across that gap, just have fun.
