Hey /vr/. What are some games released before 1990 that have good or interesting stories? I'm just interested in the concept of games from the 80s that are ahead of their time. Pic related is an example. I like Valis' story quite a bit.

I've been curious about the famicom detective games. How hard is the Japanese? Are the gba mini ports decent versions of em?

The SNES version of 2 is translated. It's pretty good, I would recommend it

The story is completely different though.

if you like Valis' plot Valis 2's story (on the X68000 - fan-translated) will blow you out of the water. The game's jumping controls may blow you out of the water too, in a bad way. But it's worth it to soldier on!

Thanks anon! I'm actually a fan of the series. I've played through all of them (on PC Engine). I think Valis III is my favorite.
