You didn't crash land at the start of the game, you were meant to land around the Big Gun but the anti-air fire, EMP, etc decimated the first assault so when you were hit, you just happened to land where you did.

You could have landed much further out away from any Strogg building, or whatever.

What? What the fuck are you talking about? If you mean that the game starts with crash-landing it makes perfect sense, Strogg had anti-air EMP. It's like complaining that your squad dies at Omaha Beach in Medal of Honor, that's just how fire defense works.

If you mean that you happen to crash at the place you start the game... what? It's the start of the game BECAUSE you crash landed there. It's clearly a completely random building and you get through several levels before you get to actually important military targets and get real objectives.
