So I wanted to emulate Gran Turismo 2 (CD2 - Simulation mode) with ePSXe 2.0.5 but all I get is a black screen after selecting "New Game" in the menu.
I tried different plugins for CDR and video, even tried a different .iso but it's all the same. I tried everything I could find on Google but nothing helped so far, do any of you guys know what's going on?
Maybe I should just use another emulator, can you recommend one?

Also, what are you emulating (or trying to emulate) right now? Emulation general I guess.

Physical copies of GT2 aren't even remotely expensive, and neither is PS1 or PS2 hardware. And all PS3 models are backward compatible with PS1 discs. It's probably available on PSN for that matter.

Of all the PS1 games I would consider emulating out of necessity, I think GT2 would be absolutely dead last.

The one that shits itself against copy protection like that used in Parasite Eve 2 and likely shits itself against several others as well? This has been a problem since that release back in 2000-fucking-6.

Retroarch and Mednafen aren't that hard. Use the ISOs on archive.org and launch the cue, put the bios files in /system. It will work fine. It's worth figuring out because it's by far the best PS1 emulation option.

I loaded an iso of GT2 CD2 to the start screen but didn't play it
I just used the default plugins

If you did not put a BIOS file (like scph1001.bin) in the bios folder, you must do so

I'll say, just had to copypaste a bios and get my controller and memory card to work. Too bad it doesn't have any eye candy options like ePSXe.
What happened to ePSXe though? I remember using it to emulate all kinds of PSX games back then but now it's a complete mess on my machine.

I used the ePSXe 2.0.5 mega pack or whatever it's called, it included all kinds of plugins for everything and I tested several different settings. And two different GT2 files.
Some were loading the game faster than others but they all had this black screen issue in common.

Latest epsxe works fine for me.
Major plus is that I can use latest Lillypad and remove deadzones or negcon mapped to my PS2 pad.
Either way epsxe works really well.

PCSX-R PGXP, Mednafen, Xebra, no$psx, fucking pSX. Those are better alternatives.
