Don't even bother. People on this board blow the PS1 all day. They'll just scream at you for not caring about JRPGs (which, as you said, is almost all the system has, and most of them suck anyway) and then undergo a rapid autistic breakdown and start rambling about N64 only having "platformers and shooters". Then they'll even tell you that the PS1 had "better platformers and shooters anyway" because of a game about a gay purple dragon and a beyond generic WW2 shooter.

I'm thankful that I had both an N64 and PS1 as a kid. Even though PS1 had a few decent games like Medievil, I would have been bored to fucking tears if that was my only console. That's not even bringing up the fact it was just a turd in general, with eye-bleeding jittery 3D and terrible build quality. Hell, despite having a dual analog controller, even the controls sucked in most games because the console shipped with a d-pad only controller and that was usually what devs designed the games' controls around. The whole system was a mess and the reason it was so successful is because it was cheap, made a good multimedia device and had a massive library of shitty games that gave the illusion of variety when in reality it was like trying to find gold nuggets in elephant shit. What a pointless system.

It's called: "the truth". Medal of Honor is a piece of shit in every way. It's used as the de facto defense of every PS1 fan against the likes of Perfect Dark and Turok, despite not being able to compete on any level. It's about as good the N64's FPS table scraps.

But I'm not the one defending the PS1. Seriously, if you want mediocre games, that's the console for you. It has a quality to shovelware ratio matched only by the Wii. There is barely anything worth playing on it, and most of the "good" games are spread across an extremely limited number of genres.

You just went full retard. Only a "couple"? It literally has one of the best shooter libraries of any console ever made, certainly leagues ahead of the PS1's pathetic offerings. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Doom 64, Turok series, Duke Nukem 64, Hexen, Quake, Quake II... the list goes on.

LOL what an absolute load of shit. Even the "best" PS1 games are generally of a pretty shit quality. Just look at a game like FF7 -- it got by on FMV. Fucking FMV. The gameplay hadn't evolved since the 80s and there was absolutely nothing special about it outside of FMV and "muh story". The whole console was riddled with last-gen experiences and low production values. N64 was where the revolutionary shit happened. Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, Star Fox 64, Super Smash Bros, etc. These were extremely high quality games that have stood the test of time. You can't say that about almost anything on the PS1 library. Stop being a fucking retard.
