literally cinematic fps

3D console gaming in general. It got a bit better during 6th before getting worse again gen but nuff said. Too bad graphical fidelity is more important for muh cinematic experience than actual playability and performance like in N64's top game >>4540049
>>4540096
>it's standard
The standard for 2D games is 60 (50 in PAL) and has been for decades. Having half the FPS in an arcade game is particularly inexcusable since playability is VERY important there to survive. Slowdown in bad but it can help you sometimes. Too bad they wanted to make the game look too good for the hardware.

I remember a lot more PS2 games being in 60 FPS than PS3 and PS4 games...

Road Rash, Outrun comes to mind, as fun as pseudo 3D games are, playing it on 4th gen consoles with various scaling methods could easily cause headaches and nausea,

Forsaken ran at 50fps PAL. Always thought it was greatlooking for a PS1 game and a much-forgotten gem of a Descent clone. Duke 3d on PS1hovered around 25-15 and dipped lower still. Still had fun somehow.

Yeah, I have a hard time getting into them even as an arcade fan. Not 60fps, very bad slowdown and aiming controls that feel limiting for the genre. I guess they're popular for the quality spritework and not much else.

Ghosts 'n' Goblins on the NES had an odd frame rate for a game of that period. Dunno why it gets celebrated when Ghouls 'n' Ghosts improves upon the concept in every aspect.

>> No.4546664

>>4546658
The fact that when you mention "Ghost n Goblins" people don't automatically think about the arcade original just screams "meh, arcade games..." coming from the modern video game communities.
Notice how little relative support get arcade games in stuff like GDQ. Even Metal Slug Advance has more runs than the arcade main entries.
