This is the only CV ive played whose difficulty makes it less fun. I play thriugh the original, Rondo, and Drac X all the time, but I've never beat CV3.

It's fun for the first few levels, but becomes too frustrating at the halfway point imo.

My favorites are Rondo and Drac X.

Sure, you can't compare them directly, though I'd still say in overall quality Castlevania SotN is not that good in its genre compared to other Castlevania in their genres, if that makes sense.

Aren't his playthroughs actually pre-recorded?
Anyway, it seems they weren't familiar with Rondo of Blood, the reason they died was because of the red knight, which charges at you and you need to evade it by making a backflip jump. Evidently they didn't knew (or remembered) that the backflip was a thing. Forgivable though, since it's not a mechanic that was used in any other Castlevania game.
Also, on J&M mondays, they never play "seriously".

the remake of it is actually really good, but to answer the question, nah its not much of a hassle to unlock, to unlock both the original rondo and sotn, you just have to find its icon in one of the stages, and they aren't late game stages either.

You might be right but I don't think the graphics look appealing. Besides I don't like playing a remake without playing the original first. Thanks for the reply

>> No.4540174

Of course it's not.

In this world, the only 2 castlevania games:
1) Castlevania NES 1988
2) Super Castlevania SNES 1991

That's all

I like Rondo better but this is my 2nd fav,

>> No.4540280

>>4540074
>better music, art
All of this is negligible since it's both subjective and not game mechanic related. I'm judging the game here. SotN is on a better hardware than the rest of the 2D exploration vanias which is why it easily wins there.
However, it is the most unbalanced game with a very, VERY bad inverted (lol) difficulty curve. It also has probably the worse case of padding, even if some of the latter ones have plenty of that too (HoD's second castle, mirror areas in PoR and OoE).
It's fairly easy to see this. If you are into self-imposed challenges then SotN improves a lot. With a few tweaks (maybe hacked) it could actually be very good, but it falls short unless you like walking simulators.

>> No.4541018
