Why we never got a decent Speed Racer game?

I played a Japanese Speed Racer game for the PS1 when I was a kid. It probably hasn't aged well but I remember it having all the cool Mach 5 gadgets that were in the show. Was also one of the first racing games I played that didn't slow you down or penalize you when driving through the infield lol.

Sadly I don't think Speed Racer is that popular in the west; can't recall anyone in school even knowing what it was.

Pretty damn good, but unfortunately suffering from a lot of graphical errors in MAME (the road is sometimes invisible, and the game has gaps you need to jump over, thus you can't see them at times). I played it on location a few times and it's good fun. Bizarrely, there doesn't seem to a Japanese release, no "Mach GoGoGo" version.
