I have a picture of Arino on my wall and my mother asked why. I told her in p. vague terms that he's the host of a foreign TV show I like and I find his positivity inspiring. She was curious so I showed her a bit of the Puyo Puyo episode. That was a few days ago. I just now got a text from her asking where she can find more of of "that chinesejapanese video game programme"

I think it's more that the show caters specifically to the same audience as this board. Doesn't /k/ sometimes have threads about gun tv shows or whatever?

I tried watching a few episodes and I don’t get the appeal. He’s awful at the games and he never seems to improve. If he gets really stuck the staff just does it for him. >> No.4533209

It's not a show that I think everyone would like, but I'll try and explain why I enjoy watching it:

Arino was half of a well know Japanese comedy duo. He's a pretty funny guy, if you're into his kind of humor. Watching him struggle through difficult segments is part of the appeal of the show. Even though he's pretty terrible, you can always see him improve by the end of the episode. His confidence and fighting spirit, despite being a terrible player, is quite charming.

Outside of him playing games, the show features segments of him visiting arcades across Japan, interviews with famous Japanese game developers, and sometimes coverage of events like the Tokyo Game Show. If you have any interest in Japanese arcade culture or the history of game development, there's a ton of really interesting segments.

He's been on TV for like 20+ seasons, so there's a huge variety of games he's played over the years. I am positive you could find an episode of him playing a game that you would find interesting. The show has introduced me to a handful of games that I never even heard about (Battle Golfer Yui most recently.)

I feel like this show is for people who are interested in games but have like, negative amounts of cognitive skill and maybe no hands or something. That's the trick, isn't it. If we could have a free exchange of information then everyone could say what they're working on and avoid overlap. For all I know SA is working on the same ones. Hence the possibility that I've got masterfully timed + typeset scripts and they've got the finished translations.

Then you have to account for one translator from /vr/ going somewhat dark in communications (not shitposter). SA could have that episode ready to go, give it to me damnit. Drew little shapes and everything. But he'd said it was pretty much done. LC's been working on a big one for a while but SA might snag that too. shitposter can get a new script whenever he's ready to begin a new translation, nothing going on there yet. Have a feeling it could be puzzle genre, maybe an arcade type game.

Arino isn't an e-celeb. He's a real celebrity. He's been a famous comedian in Japan for decades and this show, which is focused entirely on retro games, has been running on one of the largest television networks in Japan for over 15 years.

E-celebs are people who pay third parties like youtube for the privilege of making fools of themselves to the unwashed masses. E-celebs are internet age freakshows that humiliate and degrade themselves for any form of attention and validation, and grovel for the content creator's equivalent of welfare. Arino isn't begging youtube to stop demonetizing his videos or his viewers to donate to his patreon. He actually works and makes a living playing and talking about games. Starting to get it?

Probably stuff like Tokimemo and Angelique, I think that kind of games give him a lot of material and free room to be funny.

I didn't attack you, and neither did most people who initially tried to discuss it with you. You knew what the explanation was, you just chose to ignore it because it doesn't fit with your preconceived agenda. You've had it explained to you multiple times, in multiple threads. You can keep disingenuously "thanking" the handful of people who don't realize you're a habitual shitposter with an agenda spanning multiple threads. You can keep reporting posts that call you out for it. It isn't going to change anything.

>> No.4553173

I made multiple threads about George Wood (i.e. the Clinton era guy) in the past few years and none of them got deleted, mainly because he had a show on public access TV in the 90s. As for Lord Karnage, I'd say the 1999-2000 period should be allowed, before he made a comeback in the late 2000s.

Yeah, now, after you've been firmly told yet again with arguments you have no chance in hell of refuting. Your opening post in this thread was to call the moderation staff "weebs" while crying about "ecelebs" in a thread that doesn't actually have any. Not sure why they keep moderating posts for you, frankly.
>Just stop with this and talk about the show, man.
You first. I'm willing to take the inevitable ban if it gets you to finally make good on your word and just go away. I'm sorry you resent the fact that actual eceleb discussion isn't welcome here.
>I just come back from time to time to see if anyone posted any further details for me.

When the show started, retro gaming wasn't very popular, so most companies had very little qualms about licensing out their games to be played on a TV show like this. >tfw there are over 3 different sub groups for every shitty anime currently airing
>only one guy is translating GCCX

>> No.4557278

No, there's 1. A professional company with dozens of employees, that puts out generally shit-tier work for brainlets.

The rest simply take that script and touch it up a little. There aren't any actual sub groups left, they all died years ago when the pros moved in.

Even back when there was a fansub scene for anime, it was pretty routine to see a show dropped for a month because of some drama. It was very rare to see a show with more than 2 choices for subs, usually there was just one.

What you kids don't seem to understand is that nobody "owes" you a sub. You're entirely at the whims of random people doing shit for no pay, and if you don't like the current situation, then you personally could pretty easily fix it within 2 years. Oh, but that would require effort, right?

There's nothing stupider than complaining about X getting translated over Y. Somebody wanted to work on X, nobody wanted to work on Y. The world isn't fair, that's why there are a dozen groups competing to get the first translation of one piss out every week, and you'll never even hear about 90% of manga.

Translating a show like GCCX is a lot more involved than shitting out an anime sub. You need to translate all the on-screen text, and translate natural dialogue instead of simplified written dialogue. And each episode is 3 times the length of an animu, so no wonder nobody can be bothered. Learn the language or shut up and wait.
