why does Takashi Tezuka get almost no credit, while Miyamoto always does?

He's just as important as Miyamoto, if not moreso. He even designed the original Zelda for pete's sake.

Miyamoto is good for marketing. People like to think individuals are geniuses when in reality they only achieve success with the help and hard work of coworkers making their visions possible. Miyamoto is an idea guy that gets all the credit while nameless thousands of other designers, artists and musicians are forgotten.

Story of history right here. You can apply this to so many things it's not even funny.

yeah I guess musicians are remembered more than programmers. Everyone knows Koji Kondo.

Because Miyamoto created Mario, not Tezuka? We already had a kind of thread like that sometime ago.

But still, he isn't all the time in the shadow. He got some recognition around the time Super Mario Maker was launched.

Not only that, he was the one who confirmed the next 2D Mario will be separate of the New. series.

This, Tezuka has been getting recognition lately.
Also in the book where this picture is from >>4525983 they have an interview to all the big guys from the SMW development, and it's clearly not just Miyamoto.
Shiggers is just the original creator of Mario.

Because Tezuka ignited the wrath of the Evil God Yamauchi by secretly playing Mega Drive games on his office during the making of Mario 3.

Of course he gets credit, Tezuka probably just prefers to stay out of the spotlight

Miyamoto is like Japanese Stan Lee. He's constantly putting himself out there so all the attention naturally gravitates to him.

>> No.4526535

He's the face of the company. He got into the industry in its infancy, established a name for himself and laid some groundwork for games like the original Mario Bros. Outside of that, he hasn't really done jack shit. He seems to have a lot of fucking retarded ideas and I'm sure if he was just allowed to run with many of them that the company would tank.

Miyamoto and Yokoi still gave the programmers and other workers from Nintendo enough work so they could develop some rather interesting games from the 80s, 90s and even in the past decade. It's a shame that it's only Miyamoto and occasionally some other member from Nintendo gets most of the credit but as
>>4526530 and
>>4525879
say, that's just how most people see Nintendo games. It's like with Kojima and the Metal Gear games or Kitamura and Inafune and Megaman: of course they didn't make those franchises completely on their own but they're more or less the posterboys who get the attention. Besides, who's saying that the less famous people got a problem with that? Maybe that's exactly what they wanted? Remember, the reputation of being a videogame developer was very different in /vr/ times, especially in Japan.
