It has games, but all of them have better alternatives. It is fun though to play some like Labyrinth for a while.

>and how fun is assembly to learn on it?
Very. Specially with the on ROM machine language monitor. BASIC is also very nice to learn on it.
The keyboard and high res crisp 80 col screen make it far better to learn BASIC and 6502 assembly than the C64.

>Need to get the fucking disk drive for this thing eventually.
Yes and also a 1541 with a parallel port cable to connect to a PC to transfer files between the PET and modern machines.

It only has monochrome character graphics so games are very limited in the audiovisual department. Most PETs don't have any sound hardware, although 80xx models like yours do have a speaker. There were loads of games made for PETs, mostly in BASIC, occasionally machine language. Most of them are designed for 40 column machines and may need some modding for an 80xx, which was primarily a business computer.

I highly doubt that by now, as you're pretty much missing the whole core of the argument.

What has "authentic eighties vaporwave hackerman experience" to do with a 80 col monochrome screen? You're literary only using ASCII, in this case, PETSCII characters when doing assembly, you don't need color, but 80 columns over 40 columns is an improvement. An ember or white monochrome screen would work just as fine. The PET and Apple II just happen to have green ones by default. The Apple IIc even has a disassembler on ROM and even better keyboard. The problem is that this board in particular tends to have a larger than normal amount of people who were, in fact, alive and using this hardware when it was new and relevant. Just a byproduct of the hobby. I'm in my forties, I've talked to several other posters who quite obviously were as well, and this is to mention nothing of certain tripfags who's only claim to fame is that they were alive during the so-called "golden era" of gaming. In short, it's really hard to bullshit here and get away with it unless people actively let you do so.

There's this unwritten agreement that seems to say "if you don't call me on my bullshit I won't call you on yours" on the Internet. The "thousands of lines of C64 ML code" poster was obviously used to having that agreement followed. The thread went nuts when someone decided to break said agreement.

You mean like writing "thousands and thousand of lines of C64 code, some of it even in the magical wizard incantations known as ML" on /vr/ of all places? It's not even what he said that was the biggest tell, though. It was the fact that getting called on it caused so much embarrassment that he stalked the thread for days after the fact, repeatedly getting baited back into it. Yep. My personal theory about that involves this bizarre sort of hauntology that's sprung up in the form of things like vaporwave. This obsession with a 1980's that didn't actually exist. I don't have a problem with that in general, but it gets tiring of hearing children who quite obviously weren't alive at the time tell me all about how Max Headroom was the president and the world only existed in two colors - those being hot pink, electric blue, or some combination of the two. Obviously, a big part of this fictional image they're idolizing takes the form of the personal computers that were in use at the time. Iconic machines like the Commodore 64 or the Apple II. The imagination and obsession goes a little too far one day and suddenly we have to hear a 14 year old tell us all about their mainframe COBOL programming days back in the seventies.

It's not even particularly bad here. A disturbingly large amount of the GNU/Linux users on /g/ put some of the best pretend eighties kids here to shame.

The PETSCII set does let you create some nice pseudo-graphics, the lack of sound is still a problem unless you use an 80 column PET. Some games such as Space Invaders could generate sound off the user port, you'd connect it to an amplifier and Commodore's reference manuals included schematic diagrams showing how to do it.

>The PETSCII set does let you create some nice pseudo-graphics
True, it looks really nice on something like a C64 that already has color too, 8-Bit Guy also made PETDraw that is pretty nice to use and does exactly that.

>Some games such as Space Invaders could generate sound off the user port, you'd connect it to an amplifier and Commodore's reference manuals included schematic diagrams showing how to do it.
Space Invaders also shows you rudimentary guide how to do it when you start the game.
Didn't Commodore latter use the exact same way of generating sound for the latter PET/CBM machines that people first used the user port for?

Yes, it certainly is. So when you mentioned "machine language" did you actually mean assembly? Or did you really mean ML? This is the same guy, making the exact same grammatical mistakes and failing to understand what he's reading.

Lol.
Are you >>4527737?

Because he sounds a lot like the LARPer getting mad that people other than him want to talk about things. Now it looks like he (most likely you) is trying to point fingers at other again.

I got you before (see >>4526395 >>4526405 >>4526418 >>4526421), just like I got you now.
Start shitposting again and deal with the consequences.

I however, won't help you derail the thread, but it's sad to see you getting mad at anons who just liked to talk, you aren't that smart, even when you think in your little bubble that you are.

What in the literal fuck are you talking about? No one is upset that people want to have a conversation. Stop fucking shitposting. STOP IT.

The only one shitposting here is you.
You even admitted it before. You're delusional, it's kinda scary.

The problem is that YOU are the LARPer getting mad. Your complete lack of English language skills are what's fucking you over when you try to pretend you're someone else.

I have no idea who you are or what you're talking about. I answered, to the best of my ability, that anon's question about ca65. You're quite obviously someone who's been involved in the nonstop shitposting in this thread, and that's whatever. I don't really care. But don't drag me into it.

No, the idiot shitposter is >>4526174
He even admitted to it.

Yeah, sorry I occasionally forget to add a S to the end or write where when it should be were, because I'm running a night shift the last couple of days.
I never pretended to be someone else, if you look at the anon I posted about, he admitted to samefagging and he is not me. I called him out before and his posts got deleted. Pretty obvious...

>>4527849
Unless you're >>4527767 >>4527793, then yeah, you're not him.

I think I'm done feeding (You)'s now. I don't know what you want and I don't care. I'm just going to make my best attempt going forward to ignore any posts I think are you. The fact that you're not a native English speaker should make that fairly easy.

You realize this only works if your quoted posts AREN'T all you, right? If all the posts are yours, no one has any incentive to even bother making a screenshot.
