What are the best ninja/samurai themed beat-em'-ups? Preferably dark and punchy. I tried Hagane thinking it'd scratch the itch, and while I enjoy the game it doesn't quite have the feel I'm looking for.

Hagane is amazing. One thing I'll say, even if it's not important is that speedruns for that game look funky due to the lack of enemy contact damage; you can just ignore everything.

Try Ninja Warriors for the same console, not a belt scroller but more beat'em up feeling than Hagane.

I've heard some of the Ninja Warriors ost, it's definitely on the list just because of that. I really liked Hagane's weapon system on top of the kick ass aesthetic, but something about the game feels weird, maybe I'm just being autistic about it
