Can we please talk about how great Deus Ex is

Is it really?

I had a hard time getting into it due to the save system.

Pretty gud.
Kinda wish the 2nd half was a bit better tho, it slowly gets more and more too actiony/rushed.
Whenever I replay it, I always get kinda bored at the 2/3rd mark, but first playthrough was fantastic.

That's what I meant, it's the only way to save. This leads to unintended savescumming and it's not something I enjoyed of Deus Ex when I played it.

Deus Ex's OST is so fucking good.

Pretty much what I think, I usually play it up until Hong Kong, complete it and leave Deus Ex on my computer to collect virtual dust again.

Getting to hear the Synapse is the reward for finishing all the good parts of the game.

It's one of the reasons I can't get into these as much. But not only CRPGs, this also goes for FPS for instance. Meanwhile on PC I enjoy the Freespace games which feel distinctly western but don't rely on savescumming.

Pretty sure GMDX saving is the same as vanilla. AKA autosaves when you get to a new level, quicksave whenever.

My favorite tracks are all in paris, that's my favorite part of the game

Hong Kong is kind of silly and claustrophobic, Paris Streets and Du Claire Chateau are perfect

I was in the middle of a non-lethal playthrough, but I got bored and gave up. It's interesting but very slow.

Deus Ex is shit and all RPG is trash.

The prod is mighty, but it's pretty tempting to just whip out the sword once you get it.
But yeah I find it pretty interesting how a pacifist playthrough is often opposed to being stealthy, since the easiest way to gey through an area without killing people is to make a big mess, like shooting a bunch of people with the crossbow and running away. My favorite solution was stacking crates to save Paul.

After posting that, I redownloaded DX and installed the mod and it reminded me why I deleted it in the first place. It fucking forces you to use HDTP and it's butt-ugly hand/weapon textures. At least Revision, whatever fuck-ups it had, allowed you to disable them one way or another.
